  1. Thinking about getting a new saw I have been looking at the Excalibur saws. The 16" would most likly be ok for me but I see they also have a 21". Just wondering on average how much a longer saw then 16" is needed. The aditional cost is not a problem but do not want to spend more then I need to. While I have been working with wood for years never did much scroll work but as I am getting older, smaller and ligher projects are starting to appeal to me .
  2. I just scroll for fun and have a 15 yr old roybi that works well for me. You do not need to spend a lot to have fun , if you get hooked on scrolling you get a better saw.
  3. That sound like a great place to visit, nothing like that near me
  4. I can make item to fit my personality and home. Most things I make I do not exactly follow a plan just use one or several and adapt it to make the item useful and personal for me. Other hobbies I have several old vehicles that I drive and maintain
  5. If you are using wide boards 6" - 12" sometimes a higher fence then what came with the saw is needed to give it more suport.
  6. Thanks for the welcomes , I have built the standard stuff most of us build, bookcases, tables shelves, and assorted small boxes and planters , however I tend to shy away from crafts and things that take some artistic talent but the saw was sitting there and looked lonely so I will take a shot at some simple projects . I started looking at the patterns on this site there are plenty to choose from. One complaint is I wish this forum had a spell checker !!
  7. Not new to wood working but not a scroll sawer. Had this older roybi on a shelf for about 10 years, my son use to use it. I cleaned it and will put it to use but I am not the artistic type so maybe a pumpkin I can paint orange or a something else simple.
  8. Looks good my favorite character in the tv show
