  1. You may find after adding all that weight and length that your saw has a lot more vibration now. I hope not but it's very possible.
  2. Les, there is no mystery to marquetry and it is really simple to learn. It is just a slower way to make a picture. The whole idea is to make a picture using the different colors and grains of the different species of wood. I think you would find it fascinating once you learn the principle. Not difficult. If I can do it, anybody can do it. There is one video on youtube that I watched, about an hour long, and the guy starts out showing a couple of beautiful boxes and then he introduces his 9 year old daughter. She made them. Don't say no until you've given it a try.
  3. Not sure Kevin but take a bearing and wash it really well with solvent and then try to get grease to stick to it. You can eventually get it to stay on but not like it should. Cleaning solvent must not have the oil base like kerosene.
  4. Maybe so but if it doesn't work out, it's money down the drain. Bite the bullet and buy the Pegas clamp set. They are so much better. Less vibration because less weight and the flip lever is better. Everything about them is better than the original design. You won't be disappointed except for when your credit card bill comes in. After that, smooth sailing.
  5. Wipe them as best as you can with a lintless shop towel or paper towel. Get as much grease off as possible and leave the rest. Pack in the new grease.
  6. I might add to what Kevin said. Never "wash" a bearing in solvent. Solvent, of the wrong type, will actually repel grease. Grease has to stick to the surface of the bearing and race to be effective. Something I learned when I attended GM training school.
  7. I can second Cherokee Wood Products. Call and ask for Chris. Tell him what you want/need. Maybe include pics of our project so he can see. They have done a lot of special stuff for the scrollers. And they try very hard to keep shipping costs down. Great company and Chris is the best. cherokeewood.com
  8. We started taking what pictures we needed to Costco and had them done right there while we waited. It was so much cheaper and easier than trying to keep fresh ink in our old HP printer. I gave up on inkjets a couple of years back and I'll never own another one unless they come with free ink refills.
  9. Sounds like it was going to go bad no matter what you did. The devil was at it and you couldn't stop him.
  10. Good news. Stay well.
  11. Congrats on your new toy. The crying is over. Enjoy.
  12. I'm so happy that you're happy. But please keep that stuff on the East side of the Rockies. I hate snow! I'm too old to ski anymore so there is no good use for it until it melts.. Then we drink it.
  13. Congrats on your new saw. You will be amazed at the difference between it and what you have been using. Best of luck and be sure to show us some of what you turn out.
  14. We are all waiting with bated breath to see what you come up with. And I'm sure it will be great.
  15. You will love them. I'll bet that once you install them, you'll find a bit less vibration. They are just better. And when you do install them make sure that the anvil screws are in alignment so that the blade sits absolutely straight up and down in them. Then, if you do have to adjust them, make sure you recheck your table to blade alignment. Once all that is done, get to cutting.
  16. I am terrible about saving stuff to my desktop. It's so cluttered that I can't even see the desktop pic anymore. So a couple of weeks ago, I created a folder called "misc. desktop stuff" and put everything in it that I didn't need to see on a daily basis. Well, somehow that folder got put into the trash can. I have no idea how. But, it did. And then sometime later, I did a CCleaner job on my computer and I guess it emptied the trash. I have searched high and low for that folder but it seems to be gone. I can only surmise that it got trashed. So, as RDTelle put it, ****happens!
  17. You will never know how much your work is appeciated. Thank you.
  18. Bad stuff runs in 3's. 2 down, 1 to go.
  19. Hi there @oldmansbike, it seems we have crossed paths on another board and didn't realize we were also friends here. Your work is phenomenal. I envy your painting ability. I can cut most anything but from there on, it eludes me as to what to do with it. Paint, stain, what finish? You have done a masterful job of sign-making. I hope we can develop more than just a casual relationship. Both here and on FB. See ya!
  20. I bought my last gallon from someone on Amazon. It'll last me a long time. Give them a try.
  21. With my limited knowledge of the Delta/Dewalt saws, I'd say that what everybody has suggested pretty well covers it. When I had my Dewalt, I tried the whole thing with elongating the holes in the front lower arm in order to move the assembly forward. That did take some of the aggression out of the saw but it really wasn't worth the time and effort involved. I just learned to work with it. You have had your saw long enough that you should have pretty well learned its quirks. So if something has "suddenly" happened, I'd be looking for some sort of out of alignment of the table. Check and recheck where it mounts in the front trunnion. Make sure those 2 bolts are tight. And check the table pivoting to make sure the little slider that guides in the slot is still in alignment. At the rear, there should not be any movement up, down or sideways. Good luck. It's something simple I'll just bet.
  22. You did such a magnificent job that I had to look twice to see that it wasn't a print.
  23. Dan, I love California. I just happen to disagree with you on what I mentioned. I'm trying to stay away from politics as much as possible. Kevin brought it up and I just agreed with him. I do still own the right to an opinion. Even in California.
  24. It sounds like you and I have governors alike. Ours has two sets of rules. His and ours.
