  1. This came to me today on Instructables and I took one look at it and saw not a weight-lifting bench but a scroll saw bench and seat. With a bit of alteration I can see that it would be great. Add a seat back and it might be very comfortable. A bit of alteration to the long board part so that it would be adjustable for saw tilt too. https://www.instructables.com/DIY-Adjustable-Wooden-Weightlifting-Bench/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email
  2. Buy it! Try for a lower price. Bring it home, tear it down and do a full maintenance on it. It'll probably outlast you. They are great saws with care & maintenance. Good luck.
  3. Yes, definitely a great area. I would have moved over there but my wife had the final say. And it was no
  4. No, it was clear down at the opposite end of town if I recall. The name will come to me because it was the same as a place around here and I thought maybe it was connected but turns out it wasn't. It'll come to me but not when I'm trying to recall it. Later at some more inopportune time.
  5. I know that area well. We have been all over it. We went to the museum at Fort Huachuca. Great museum. Some of the best ribs I ever had were in a place there, I can't recall the name now. We went through about 6 months later and it had closed up. Nice restaurant. This was back about 10 years ago. I love that whole area around Benson, Tucson, Catalina Mountains. The State RV Park up in the mountains there is great.
  6. That's what I was thinking of doing. My saw seems to cut pretty well now the way it is set up. I'd like to try my luck with resawing. I bought 2 of the H/F bar magnets and I'm going to make a good tall fence using them. I will have to try to get hold of some TimberWolf blades. So far, all I've been using is Olsen. My saw had the quick release tension on it from Delta. Not after-market. I had to replace the tension/tilt slider because it got stuck in the machine groove and when I tapped it with a dead blow hammer, it fell to pieces. I found a complete assemby on eBay and after filing/honing the grooves, it now slides very nicely. I also put some synthetic grease in the grooves. I don't think it had ever had any lube on it at all. Anyway, thanks to all for you replies and advice. I think I'll go with just the stabilizer for now. And good blades.
  7. Nice! Very nice!
  8. Where are you in So Az? We have looked over there too.
  9. Yes Les, the 2 happiest days in a boat owner's life.
  10. Sounds like a man with a plan. I love it. I envy the heck out of you having that much space. I'll just live vicariously through you.
  11. Sorry Kevin, after I posted I checked to see where they were. I was thinking Michigan but when I saw Virginia, I was sorry that I had even said anything. Oh well, it's a deal for somebody.
  12. Thanks for mentioning them Ben2008. I feel sort of responsible for them being mentioned here. I really do like them for my wood purchases and Chris goes the extra mile to keep his customers happy.
  13. To answer your question Kevin, yes that is the rear tension release lever. But something doesn't look right about that saw. The black box under and by the motor is the speed control/on/off switch. I can't make out that it has the knob for the speed control. Anyway, if I were you, I'd be hot-footing to wherever that is and buy it. Heck, you could part it out and make money but that's not what I'd do. I think at that price, it's a very good deal. Are you near to where it is? Get going.
  14. Thanks Katie, that's a great graphic. I'll print it out and tape it to my bandsaw.
  15. No problem. Your question may tie in. Have you seen the video on the Carter stabilizer? It may solve your problem.
  16. I've got a Chinese made Delta 28-206 band saw. Not a bad saw considering where it was made. My question is, have any of you folks upgraded your band saws to the Carter blade guides and if so, what is your overall impression? Are they truly worth the money? I didn't pay too much more for the saw than what those guides cost. My saw seems to track pretty well now but I want to do some resawing and was wondering just how much better they would make my saw. Also, I was looking at the Carter blade stabilizer for the smaller blades so do more of the scrolling type of cuts. Just pondering here but would really like the feedback from those of you who made the investment.
  17. That's exactly why I don't loan tools. I have loaned things in the past and take the time to make a note of who borrowed it, when and then have them sign for it. Never lost anything yet. When I was running the tool truck, I had a neighbor ask to borrow a $200 timing light. He got all pissed off when I told him no. Too bad. I never liked him anyhow.
  18. Deleted.
  19. I've had one of these on my list for a while. Thanks for the review.
  20. I've had that on my computer but somehow it got deleted. Thanx for reminding me. I really like that H/F saw and it had all great reviews. 4xs & 5s. He guy in the video bought a brand new Ridgid stand for his. I have the Dewalt stand that my table saw is on so I might swap it with the miter saw and build a cabinet for my job saw. That way I can incorporate an outfeed table into it. I'm enclosing my driveway so I can leave my bigger stuff outside with tarps.
  21. You know Kevin, I know you have a ton of money but I'd give this saw a look and watch the video. For $220 without a coupon, this saw looks great. I think I might just have to have one. As soon as they send me another coupon, it'll be mine. https://www.harborfreight.com/10-in-dual-bevel-sliding-compound-miter-saw-57179.html?_br_psugg_q=sliding+miter+saw
  22. Wow! Some of you crafters amaze me. I'll never post another project. I'm in awe of stuff like this. It's absolutely gorgeous. I can only dream of making something this beautiful.
  23. I've got a 12" Dewalt compound miter saw and it is just too big and heavy. What I would like to replace it with is a 10" sliding miter saw. I know they are big and heavy too but at least if I was to set it up and leave it up, it would be there for quick cuts that I'm doing on my bandsaw now. I'm limited to that 14" capacity on it. I've looked at the 10" saw at H/F but would really like something of a better quality. Anyway, to my point, give the sliding feature a good look at before buying anything. It might be the answer to your problems.
  24. Yeah, where's the pics?
