  1. Nice work
  2. I use blue painters tape to hold stack together then spray glue to hold pattern. I will also use spray glue directly on the wood and then use heat gun to remove then clean up w/spirits.
  3. Thank you for the kind words. I have found that the challenge when doing portrait patterns is the actual photo, the older the photo (and i'm talking 10 yrs or more) the more difficult it is to get the shadowing correct, this is what gives the pattern life. You have to decide how much detail to give the portrait and I have found that sometimes less is more. Thanks again Art
  4. This latest portrait was my toughest yet, 320 holes in this one. I started with a Spiral then went with flat blades because the spiral was too much for some of the more delicate areas like the eyes. I stack cut 7 pieces of 1/8 BB. I used gimp to create the pattern.
  5. Just a suggestion: more lights down center.
  6. Very nice Kevin..
  7. Good ole Sgt Shultz. Nice job.
  8. Started off by keeping lots af detail and then realized that less is better. I tried to capture most of the detais from the shadowing but found that it just distorted the pattern so i went with less detail and it was actually better. Thanks for looking
  9. Started in the fall of 2011, still a newbe......
  10. I built my stand using the kenneth plan provided by steve good and it works great, of course i added a couple of features like live power and switched power. For the anti vibration i used a section of horse stall mat but you can use carpet or something else. Good luck
  11. Just because you are on ss disability does not mean you cannot work. You can work but there is a limit as to how much you can make. My wife is on ss disability unfortunately she cannot work. A friend of mine was also on it and he made too much and had his benefits pulled. Get a good local ss attorney and you will be fine. If you qualified before you should again. Good luck.
  12. Thanks for the advice guy's
  13. A friend gave me a Grizzly dust collector with a number of gates along with the pvc. I have a stand-by whole house generator system that the circuit will be tied to. Rubber mats are a good idea, the tile floor is a good one too. Someone suggested building up the floor but i think that is a bit much, the home is 8 yrs old and super dry. I am looking for kitchen cabinets from a remodel that someone wants to dump too. Lighting, lighting, lighting is what I am told too. My biggest concern is outside walls.
  14. I am planning to work on my basement shop this winter or whenever the time permits and was wondering what everyone else has done with their shops. I thought that maybe those with a completed shop wouldn't mind sharing ideas and photos of there shop. It would kinda help. My space is approx 15'x26' with 10' ceiling unfinished. I would have to close in duct work and plumbing by installing a drop ceiling. Thanks Art
  15. Thanks Sully, i will look into that.
