  1. Thanks Bob and Ike - it is actually Kevin's "fault" I did the name LOL He is the one (pretty sure he is the one) that sent me the link to create a pattern for names
  2. Thank you! I love sharing and hearing encouragement. I was up late last night looking at ideas of what to try next I'm not ready yet for the very delicate stuff, even though I LOVE how it looks. Thinking about trying a cabin today.
  3. Beautiful! I use to be able to play that song on the piano.
  4. I am sorry for your loss. You did an amazing job on the portrait.
  5. Amazing job! I think I like the black background. Your cuts are beautiful!
  6. Beautiful work! How awesome your grand appreciates your work! Love love love that tree ornament! I have a thing for trees and cabins
  7. I tried looking for a local group to see if I can learn from a local but no such luck. That is awesome that you are an instructor. I love teaching. Thanks for the thoughts and suggestions.
  8. Clayton I think the blade is a 10tpi one. I have 7, 10, and I can't remember the other size. I would really like to try other blades to see what they can do. I turned 37 2 weeks before grandson was born I was 18 when I had my daughter and she was 18 when she had him. 4 grands that must be fun....I am loving my little squishy lol that is what I call him.
  9. Larry - I really want real chickens but the borough said no, so I make thEm lol I use to make them out of fabric but this is way more fun! Kevin - thank you for the very high praise, I appreciate it
  10. Thanks everyone I really appreciate the kind words
  11. Thanks Frankorona!
  12. Thank you all for your thoughts, I really appreciate them I asked Mike for the 2 sample blades to give them a try. I'm not happy with the blade I am currently using, but it is very possible it is just me It seems big and I struggle with turns, but that probably comes with a lot of practice too. Thanks again!
  13. I'm not to fond of my blade, but haven't figure out another option yet, so the turns aren't as nice as I would like them to be, but it's a start It's for my grandson (just being a grandma at 37 makes me feel old!). My younger daughter also painted the two chickens and the skunk. Thanks for looking
  14. LOL Roly - Let's see, no side board, no chest of drawers, and no wooden bed. I do have kitchen cabinets, but I kinda like them for storing food. We have been selling everything we own to pay for Hubby's medical care and to try and survive, so I don't have much left to cut up But thank you for the great laugh! Thank you everyone! I appreciate the thoughts and advice!
  15. Hehe Hans - It's a Ryobi, regular tooth 10 TPI.
  16. Thanks everyone! I did try removing the foot but then I had two problems.... no blower (because it is attached to the foot) and the wood, like Don said, bounces around like crazy! It probably isn't the best scroll saw, but I didn't have the funds to get a better one. I am very thankful to have this one. Hubby is at stage 5 kidney failure and on dialysis 6 days a week, he worked for 2 years on dialysis, but in June his body just gave up the fight to go and do work (he built helicopters, which is very physical and his job was an hour from home), so we are surviving on his disability checks, which I'm sure you all know isn't much. I do a patchwork of jobs to try and make ends meet, but since the bulk of my time is taken up taking care of Hubby (I took a class for 4 weeks to be his dialysis "tech" and I set up the machine, run it, take care of him, all from home 6 days a week, which takes me about 36 hours just to do the dialysis and then there are countless doctor appointments to go to). I got back into wood working because I wanted to make my grandson some Christmas gifts, but I'm also hoping to make some small things to sell. One day, I hope to save enough money to get a better one, because I'm having way too much fun to ever give up this hobby Love the nesting puzzle idea DW. I saw there is a puzzle blade, don't have one of those, is there another blade that can do the same type of cutting? Thanks again!
  17. Thanks Sigp and Bob for the welcome! I SO want to be in there working with the saw, but sadly chores and responsibilities have to be taken care of first..... it's amazing how life gets in the way
  18. Thank you all for the welcome! I'm really excited! I made 5 projects last night I probably would have done more, but I was watching my grandson and running my hubby's dialysis machine so I needed to focus more on them than my projects. Each project is getting easier and easier for me to accomplish. I'm not sure I'm ready for anything complicated, but I'm excited I'm getting the hang of the machine again. I just have so many questions and so much to learn! Larry - Not sure what in my profile made you like me, but that is good with me It's always nice to be liked and welcome. Kevin - Always can use more family, so I'm very excited to have just extended mine by joining the village Thanks again everyone for the welcome!!!!
  19. Ok it is 4:30 in the morning and I'm so going to regret being up when morning comes, but I'm just so excited I can't sleep hehe. I have been reading about different blades and I have seen the name "Flying Dutchman" come up a lot. Is this a good blade to use? My saw takes 5" pinned and plain blades, is a flying dutchman available for me to use? I watched a you tube video and the man was using that type of blade and it looked pretty cool. Thanks! Kelly
  20. I made a smaller chicken I'm having SO much fun!!!! I enjoy both the designing of my simple patterns and the creating
  21. Thank you all for the compliments and suggestions! Yes Don, that is exactly what this scroll saw is! I like it, but I can't keep the silly drop foot in place. Every time I pull the wood out, it falls because the tightening knob comes loose. This was the best I could afford for now, but maybe one day I will have a nicer one, but for now I'm THRILLED and so thankful to have this one
  22. Sorry to share another picture so soon. I'm just so excited! The earlier tree I did with a pattern I purchased, this I did from my drawing of a chicken. I'm hoping to make a variety of animals for my grandson. Thanks for looking
  23. Ok, I'm very very new at this. What types of wood do you recommend and where do you buy it? Do you get it in sheets, squares, boards? I'm not doing the amazing detail work that most of you are very talented at. I'm mainly starting with simple "block" like objects. I did a tree that is posted on the picture page to get an idea of what I am able to do at this point. Thanks! Kelly
  24. I LOVED working on a scroll saw in high school, but I haven't touched one since. Just did this today. My younger daughter will paint it for me. Not anywhere near as impressive as all of your very amazing projects posted on here, but still wanted to share. Thanks for looking
  25. Very cool! I love the phrase and the cutting. I have no where near that kind of talent at this point. Which of the woods did you find easiest to cut? I'm still learning. Thanks for sharing!
