  1. ocoochhardwoods.com woodworkerssource.com heritagewood.com Amazon.com I've used Amazon and Ocooch with good results. Woodworkers source lets you choose your sizes cut from 60" x 60" sheets or precut individual sizes. I've also used the local big box stores with fair results.
  2. I once needed some boards thickness planed, and after ruining one with an electric hand planer, I called the local high school shop teacher and he had one of his boys in the shop class do it for me for free.
  3. I really like it. I think that's the nicest Viking I have seen and being from Minneapolis originally, I've seen more than my fair share of Viking images.
  4. I've used scrappers for a long time. Not sure they would work well for scroll saw projects, but maybe used gently. Once you learn to create the correct burr, scrapers work great, Both with and across the grain. I've also used pumice, rotten stone and even cigar ashes to perfect a finish. It's quiet and very therapeutic. It was in my "French Polish" period. lol
  5. Very nice. I'd like to make one myself, but I live in the desert. Want to see some confused people, put an Ice auger and a tip-up in your front yard in Tucson and watch the people try to figure out, what the heck those things are. lol
  6. You weren't awarded custody of your scroll saw?? Man, that's cold!
  7. I was once told, "You can buy a dust collector or you can be one."
  8. I started vaping 2 1/2 yrs ago and I'm down to #8 nicotine. My vaper counts puffs and I'm down to 40 or so a day. I feel much better and the money saved on smokes goes for wood, blades etc. Good Luck. and nice work
  9. Hi, all. I just found your site and would like to introduce myself. I'm a native Minnesotan retired and living in Tucson, Az. I'm 64 and am starting back into scrolling after nearly 15 years. I also work in stained glass and am trying to learn to carve. I retired at 57 and moved to Panama City, Panama for awhile before buying a home in Mazatlan, Mexico and living there for 5 years or so before returning to the States. Really glad I found you guys. I'm somewhat challenged trying to find wood for scrolling and glass actually for that matter here in the Southwest. I guess in Minneapolis more people are involved with indoor type hobbies due to the long winters. Here people tend to roam around the desert and get involved in biking and hiking rather than spend they're time indoors. Oh, well. Like they say here, "you don't have to shovel sunshine." bye for now, wilson142
  10. Hello, Zen. I'm a new member, about 20 min. ago actually. Stumbled on your post wandering through the site and saw that really nice pc. of wood. I buy some of my wood from a place called Ocooch Hardwoods out of Wisconsin. They sell Blue Pine in limited widths that look an awful lot like what you posted. Not sure if that's what you have but, they look similar. Nice find!
