  1. Marg, I have thought of trying to scroll through the summer months, but we spend a lot of time with the grand children and the next time I know it's fall. Winter months are out for me as I am unable to heat my shop. The other thing I've found is, what I think will sell doesn't, so I do 90% of purchases are cut to order.
  2. This is one I did last year, again one of Steve Good's patterns of a door wreath downsized to be a tree ornament. I didn't do these to sell, just to give away.
  3. Thanks Dick. The first one I cut out took me 3 hours to cut and 15 minutes just to drill the 96 holes needed. I really do like the looks of them done though.
  4. Thank you for the welcome. I have watched all the tutorials for Inkscape and use it when modifying patterns with names and such, but my big problem is I only use it this time of year and have to relearn everything from the year before as I don't use it the rest of the year.
  5. I have been lurking on this site on occasion for a while now, trying to learn about different saws and patterns. I live in Shoreham Vermont and retired almost 5 years ago and about a month before Christmas I have been making my grand children ornaments for Christmas each year. I started out with the jigsaw on my Shopsmith, then bought a used Delta 40-560 2 speed saw at a yard sale and used that for the past 3 years. This summer I saw a Delta 40-540 variable speed saw for sale on craigslist for $50 so thought it would be nice to have variable speed. Well my wife has been selling ornaments as fast as I make them and I said I guess I can afford a new saw. So I bought a Delta 40-964 and love it. I am very anxious to try and learn how to make my own patterns, so will be trying to get hints from anyone on this site if I can. Sadly I only scroll just before Christmas each year.
  6. I have been cutting out Christmas ornaments for the past 4 years. Started out the first year on a Shopsmith jigsaw, then picked up a Delta 40-560. Then this summer found a Delta 40-540 vs and thought I would be happy with that. It does work pretty well as it has cut out most of this years ornaments including 9 of these ornaments for the grand children and their parents. This is a Steve Good pattern of a door ornament that I downsized for a tree ornament.
  7. Does that clipped corner indicate the top or bottom end of the blade?
  8. I just got a ne Delta 40-694 saw and thought I would go back and try the FD and the Pegas blades I have and still return to my Olson Mach #3 blades. I just can't find anything that works better for me than the Mach #3 Neal P.

    Delta 40-694

I have only had this saw for about a week now, but so far I love it. Anyone purchasing this saw needs to go through and check all adjustments prior to using as with probably any saw. I found the left to right adjustment of the blade chuck allen screws were not right , but easily corrected. The saw is practically vibration free at all speed ranges. Neal P.
