  1. That is a nice looking trivet. Is that pattern available from this site? Vermont being one of the largest producers of maple syrup, I would love to cut that pattern and again great job.
  2. That's pretty clever!
  3. These cherry letter openers are a Steve Good pattern, makes a very nice finished project for gifting.
  4. I cut the circles using a hole saw with the center drill bit removed. I did it on my Shopsmith in horizontal boring mode, that allows me to use both the fence and table to support the wood and keeps it from moving all over the place without the center bit. I did them in a thicker piece of wood, then sliced them out the thickness I needed on the table saw.
  5. awesome job!
  6. Thanks for the comments. The main piece is cherry, lettering for months and the disc's are rock maple. The printing on the disc's was done with text in Inkscape then flipped horizontally, printed with a laser printer, then ironed on the disc's with a round accessory that goes on my wood burning tool.
  7. That is a very cool tool. I am guessing they have different burrs to fit in it for different things. I like it.
  8. My wife is always scrolling on Pinterest, and coming up with projects to add to her 'honey do' list. This Family Birthday Hanger comes from Sue Mey...Scrollsawartist.
  9. Ray, Merry Christmas to you as well and to everyone on SSV.
  10. Right back at you!
  11. Thank you guys. I didn't use tape on it, but if I do any more I will for sure.
  12. I'm guessing these are the last three ornaments for the year. The name ornament is one my wife saw online made from metal and wanted me to try and duplicate. Not as hard to cut as it is to remove pattern and then sand, very delicate pieces hanging in there. I don't mind being fussy cutting without breaking, but then breaking trying to remove pattern or sand.
  13. I am definitely am going to have to order some. Thanks again everyone.
  14. Thank you for the responses, I kind of thought it was the modified geometry, because I have some of about all their other blades and nothing comes close to the Mach #3 blades I use. I will have to get some to try. I love the Mach blades so if they are better than those I would be very happy. Thanks again.
  15. What Pegas blade is equal to the Olson Mach series of blades?
  16. I use my computer to write what I want on an item, flip the writing horizontally in the program, then print with a laser printer the use my wood burned that has a little nickel sized attachment to iron my name and address on the backs of my items. Works great as you can change the size to fit most anything you want. I just do it prior to spraying my ornaments with clear finish. I've even used this process this year to make some simple worded ornaments.
  17. I just purchased a Delta 40-694 that is fantastic. Cuts great, no vibration and just like the Dewalt for less money.
  18. Those are very cool. I have yet to try anything like that, but will have give it a try soon.
  19. I most always use just one blade for just about every thing I cut. I use the Olson Mach #3 blade. I have bought and tried the Flying Dutchman and the Pegus blades and honestly don't care for either of them. I just cut a compound cut ornament out of one inch rock maple with the same blade I had already cut probably half a dozen or more ornaments with blade already and it still worked fine. I love the smooth finish the blade leaves also.
  20. Thank you Kevin, I have been trying to do a new ornament or two for each of the Grandchildren each year. I started a number of years ago making them each a turned ornament each year, then I started doing Steve Good's ornaments. I remember as a kid when I was around 8 or 10 my Mom and dad got me using their old Montgomery Ward (power craft) jigsaw. I don't know why I went so long in between without doing it.
  21. Hey Lew, I'm glad to see someone else here is from Vermont. I'm a 66 year old born and raised in Vermont. I too have my scroll saw in the garage of our raised ranch home which is quite cold even with a space heater. Welcome to Vermont!
  22. I have always just used rubber cement, then peel off pattern and remove residue with belt sander on all my ornaments. I mainly use rock maple and haven't had any trouble. When I was using cherry I did break a couple when sanding.
  23. That is a nice batch. Isn't it great to get bunches of free lumber like that. I have a nephew who works at a local sawmill who just found out that I can use short 1' to 1.5' pieces so he is getting me the cut offs of the lumber after it has been dried and graded. I use the maple he gets me for all my ornaments.
  24. Those look great! What is the outside diameters of them?
  25. I like them a lot. I may have to do some of those for myself.
