Looks good to me Dick. Those spirals are a bugger. I try to stay away from them as much as I can. Mine always look so darn fuzzy on the back when I use them.
Chris, It may not be the correct way but I do them all separately. I started by putting the flower pattern on my maple piece of wood. Put my poplar underneath to do the stem and leaves. Then I put the cedar under and cut the flower. Put the cherry on top and cut the hummingbird in.....used a couple pieces of mahogany for the dark spots in the bird. ............If anyone has an easier way please speak up.
I sell my boxes for $45. Good thing I am not doing it for a living. I think Jim Flinn told me that he sells his inlaid boxes quite a bit cheaper than that.
My wife and I are sure missing our Hummingbirds. Thinking of them inspired me to make this trinket box. It is made of maple, cherry, mahogany, poplar and cedar.
