  1. I have had Cedar do that at times and that was with the tape running with the grain. When that happens I just take it off from the other direction.
  2. All the tips sound great plus Practice, Practice and more Practice!
  3. I use the 1/4" or 1/2" Baltic Birch depending on the thickness of the piece I'm putting it on.
  4. That is one of the first things that I learned from the scrolling class that I took years ago. Your able to scroll longer without your shoulder, arms or elbows getting sore!
  5. I always save the front piece I cut out of the log. People are amazed at what is inside the log.
  6. I got a book years ago called Fun and Easy Scrollsaw projects. The name on the book is Spielman. There are 3 log patterns in that one.

  8. You can go into the settings and change or delete the taxes as you want to! I try and avoid checks as I have been burnt before taking them. You might be surprised to how much your sales go up when you can take cards!
  9. Wow, that is really restricting you! That 8x8 is probably outside measurements also! Good luck You get it set up post a picture!
  10. I'm betting you could find it at either Sue Mey's site or Sheila Landry's site
  11. www,cherrytreetoys.com sells it also. Plus they also sell it by the foot and it is 12" wide!
  12. Good luck with the show Scott! Hope there is a big turn out!
  13. When I want to sand a piece that has been cut out I use my palm sander both front and back. Don't want the sander crabbing and of the pieces and breaking them. On the back if there are any fuzzies left I quickly hit them with a torch!
  14. I use the Dewalt OBS to get my wood ready for scrolling. Mine has a dust bag on it but find it full quite often. If I use it alot at one time my hand tends to go numb but that's probably just me. Once I get the Fretwork done I use a palm sander on the back to help get off some of the fuzzies.
  15. When I started scrolling I started out on a 16" Craftsman scroll saw. That got old fast because of the blade change. I broke down and got a New RBI and have not regretted that for one minute after almost 15 years on the same saw! What;s the old saying?" YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR".
  16. I don't even attempt to stone the backs of any of the blades I use. Sometimes though I do take a stone and smooth the top of the blade where you can fill a burr. If I drill a small hole that the blade will just go through sometimes that burr will keep it from going through.
  17. I still like the regular spirals for what I do. I have used the New spirals and they seem more aggressive plus the cut seems to be a tad wider? Never used the reversed spirals yet!
  18. I find that Forrest blades give the smoothest cuts. Prices are more than some others but well worth it! Good Luck!
  19. What's a Super Bowl?
  20. I've found that the Polar blades work the best for anything cut using thick wood. I like the #7 blades the best. I also wrap the wood with packing tape to help lub the blade.Good luck with the Chess pieces
  21. When I do inlay sometimes and have small pieces I have a piece of MDF that covers my saw table. I just clamp it down.
  22. I use the wrap for a thumb guard when I am carving also. Sure saves alot of cuts and band-aids! That should work for what you are wanting too use it with. Just don't warp it too tight so as you cut off the blood flow!
  23. Where did you find it? I use the moldex mask but always looking for something better!
  24. I've been scrolling with my Hawk 26" since 2002 and I love it! Have only had to change out the upper blade holder from time to time since I use it so much! Well worth the money for me anyway!
  25. When I am making boxes I use it to tightly wrap it around the sides of the box. I has worked for me a long time now!
