  1. Welcome Ed! To this awesome village of knowledge and talent...
  2. Does the balde holder have a set screw for keeping the blade centered in the holder? If it does it may have worked itself out a little from the vibration of the saw. So when you tighten the thumb screw you are actually bending the top of the blade because it is pushing the blade into the hole where the set screw is supposed to be.
  3. If someone posts a picture of a finished piece and does not credit a pattern artist/designer, you should do everything you can to find out where the pattern can be acquired or purchased. Otherwise copyright laws are being broken. Just MHO...
  4. Cool Cut!
  5. Looks Great Nice Work!
  6. When I started out my very first blades, like many I'm sure, we're the blades you buy at the big box stores. HORRIBLE! Then I found the village and after reading I decided to get some Flying Dutchman Ultra Reverse blades. Awesome! Then I was introduced to the Pegas Modified Geometry blades, WOW! And as time went on I found out that each of the blades had their ups and downs for different aspects of scroll saw work. These are the only two blades I use and have no reason the switch. Oh and I use a FD New spiral from time to time for certain fretwork pieces if needed.
  7. Finished up this custom ordered sign today,
  8. Welcome Chuck! Look forward to seeing your work. I'm from NEPA also.
  9. Very Generous of you and your wife! Prayers for Asher and his family!

  11. Great work!

  13. Nice work! Cherry is one of my favorite woods and that bread look with it is very nice. Thanks for sharing.

    Nice cutting! Thanks for sharing!
  15. The only thing I have that is by WEN is a ceiling mounted air cleaner/filter which works great. As far as power tools I can't vouch.
  16. They were custom orders from someone. I designed that pattern myself using inkscape and Google images. You can find the tutorials here on the forum under village university I believe.
  17. Welcome to the addiction! You will find out as you go that you will need many different sanders. If you have a random orbital already I would get yourself a disc belt sander next. AND if you do get into the intarsia I would then invest in some type of inflatable drum sander. I have both the belt disc sander and drum flap sander from Grizzly. I also use a 150 and 220 grit sand mops for my work. I also a have a Drexmel with the flex shaft for the mini drum sanders.
  18. So after almost a year of being a member of this forum, I would like to take time and finally share some of my work. I have actually been scrolling since I'm about 14 y/o I'm 34 now. I learned the basics from a friend's father in his basement on an old, old, old, old, did I say old delta scroll saw. I did stop for quite some time as I found better and more important things to do as any boy in his late teens and early twenties would. About five years ago I purchased a craftsman of my own and started making sawdust on my own again. And last year I joined this forum, learned a lot of new things just from reading. I also took the ultimate plunge and purchased an EX30 FROM Seyco last Marich, WOW! But here is some of my work, please feel free to comment any constructive criticism as I am always looking for ways to improve. The Eagle Scout plaque was what I was asking about quite some time ago about the dye for wood which never worked out for the actual color I wanted to achieve so I ended up just painting. The lettering on it is actually cut twice. Once out of the 1/2 inch background and then out of 3/4 inch and placed back in for three raised look! I have many many more projects but no pictures of them on this device. Enjoy! Thanks again for looking! A Big thank you to all the pattern designers!
  19. I own the Drum/Flap Sander and i use it for Intarsia. I felt when I started into this crazy addiction and started with the Intarsia that it was a must have, so I purchased it and it is the most used tool. Now with that being said..... I was cheap and didn't buy the stand for it and mounted it to my bench, bad choice will be purchasing the stand after Christmas. Make sure to get the sand when you order yours. Also make sure it is some where your able to easily find the harder to hold onto pieces and they frequently become projectile missiles and bounce off of everything... Or make some type of catch for them, I have not found and easy way to do this yet.
  20. Spirithorse, I will try this too next time I am working on a project that requires un-natural colors. Thanks Chris
  21. Brian, Those are some amazing colors! How long does the wood sit in the dye? I was using Pine and Poplar wood and couldnt get nearly those results, as a matter of fact you wouldn't event think I tried to dye them. Is the soft maple the only wood that you use? Chris
  22. It was I that asked about dying wood some time ago. I tried the whole food color thing and that didn't work as planned as i was not happy with the quality of the colors. Soooo, unfortunately i resorted to acrylic paint.... I do however like to color quality in you ornament Ike. I may have to do some experimenting with the RIT dyes for future projects. Thank You for posting this and remembering that someone asked about dying wood! Do all the colors come out that vibrant and true on the Poplar Wood? Thanks Chris
  23. Looks Great! I wouldn't sweat it. Just leave it be.
  24. I have tried several of the "Temporary" adhesive sprays and was not happy with any of them. Hated having to get glue off the wood and the pattern lifting off. Switched to Blue painters tape and 3M-77 permanent adhesive. I don't see myself trying or switching to anything else anytime soon. No pattern lift, and Blue tape comes right off leaving no residue behind, even after being on for a few days on larger more detailed projects.
