  1. I am part of the Herb Society of America and we love hummingbirds. I made a hummingbird plaque for the outgoing president. I enjoy segmentation and working with various types of wood stack-cutting. Hopefully it is a gift she will cherish for years to come.
  2. Scroll saw segmentation using various 1/8 inch thick hardwoods. Pattern from The Best of Wood Vol 2 1993.
  3. My big three other than baltic birch are Cherry, Walnut and Maple.
  4. Thanks for the post. Sometimes we forget what other countries are experiencing. It helps to understand.
  5. Welcome from another buckeye.
  6. Great advise and wonderful feedback. Master Scroller thanks for the tips. I agree with each one of them. I recognized the P instead of a B but not sure how to correct it once the video has been posted. I'm hoping the next ones will be better. I plan on continuing and with your positive feedback it encourages me to do more. Thanks!!!!!!
  7. I am excited and nervous but I did it. I have been wanting to do YouTube videos for quite some time now and I have finally done it. I have 4 videos up teaching people how to do a project for the first time. If you would like to check them out they are under my name Susan Loar and Beginner scroll sawing. . I know there are many things wrong with them. Lighting, sound, things I should have added, but I had to start somewhere. I'm hoping to do many more and get better and better at the presentation as I go along. I just wanted to share them with all of you. Thanks for having a place that I could share my news with all of you.
  8. Thanks for keeping this running so well.
  9. Wow, what great ideas from this group. I will definitely be using some of these ideas for the future. I ended up cutting a 1 1/2 inch strip of 3/4 inch plywood to the back and attached an eyelet screw to the top. It wasn't the best but it seemed to do the trick. Thanks everyone for your input!
  10. Hello all. You may have answered this in past forums but here goes. I have cut out 1/4 backer and 1/4 art and glued them together. . With only 1/2 inch to work with, I am trying to think of alternatives to nails and metal wall hanging materials. Would love any ideas on what to put on the back of my art to hang on the wall. Thanks in advance. Susan.
  11. Welcome aboard. I am from Delaware county in Ohio. Nice to see a fellow Ohioan.
  12. Welcome aboard. I'm new too and think this site is exactly what I've been looking for.
  13. I have been enjoying scrollsawing since 2009 but have only concentrated on it for the past 6 months. I love all the information on the Scrollsaw Village and decided to become a member. There are some incredible pictures and ideas here.
  14. It's exciting to see people from near and far on here. I'm from Ohio. My name is Susan and I have been scrolling for quite a few years but have taken it up seriously the past couple of years. This certainly seems the place to be for ideas and questions. I did a portrait of my daughter and was amazed how well it turned out. I will be posting some of my creations later. My first big questions is: What is the best way to attach wood to the back of a cut-out if it's been painted? I have ideas but thought I'd ask the more experienced scrollers.
