  1. Thanks Don and Rob, I'll give that a look this morning. I have Gimp, but have never actually used it.
  2. 75 done... All of the small categories... Tomorrow evening will be the non-puzzle category.
  3. No, I don't JB. If my website would accept PDF images instead of requiring JPG that would save a few steps. And I have to position the watermark/business card manually to cover certain parts of the pattern. I want the head and the first letter to show. I have to size it and position it differently each time.
  4. That's what I keep telling myself Ralph... "It's worth the time, it's worth the effort... really..." LOL
  5. I revamped my website so that ordering Harvey's patterns is more automated. They're now able to be downloaded when ordered instead of me having to email them out. In doing so, I spent over a day keying in all 450 patterns and setting up categories, etc. I realized I need to add images of the patterns with each one so folks can easily see what it looks like. But if I simply stick the image of the pattern, it could easily be "stolen"... so today I tried various things including making the images low quality so they couldn't print, but that failed so then I started looking at watermarks and found a way to watermark with a "logo" so I'm using one of my business card images to cover a large portion of the pattern... Take a look... I've gotten the cats done... 12 patterns down, about 438 to go... Multi-step process... 1) Convert PDF file to JPG using online free service 2) Download JPG 3) Open JPG, rotate it 270 degrees so it's facing the right way 4) Upload JPG to online free service to add the logo watermark 5) Download watermarked JPG 6) Upload watermarked JPG to my website 7) Link it to the individual item You can view the 12 cats via the drop down... https://www.woodcraftbyscott.com/collections/all-puzzles/products/puzzle-patterns-cats
  6. Leave it to you Ray to use it as truly a dead... man... switch....
  7. Side note: I have my saw and my shop-vac/dust deputy connected to the deadman's switch so that they all come on and off together so that I'm not running the shop-vac non-stop.
  8. I'm a deadman style user, I like being able to quickly "let go" if when a blade snaps or the blade grabs my wood and I scream and cuss.
  9. I hope so, but it's also now listed as being only 30' instead of 36'... so I'm concerned it's a totally different brand.
  10. Please provide a link to it Ed. Amazon stopped carrying it at $5.64 per roll.
  11. Amazon doesn't carry the 12" wide Duck brand any more. That's why I started ordering it from Walmart.
  12. I just pulled up what I've been buying from Walmart and now they're showing a different picture and the description has changed... Has anyone seen/tried this particular liner? I was very happy with the other type (still shown in the 2nd picture). I hope they don't screw me over with a new, crappy version. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Shelf-Liner-Roll-Clear-12-inches-x-30-feet/16224481
  13. Steve, are you toying with me? LOL
  14. Great start. As mentioned, curves and arcs are tricky and take practice. You'll eventually learn how to use "pivot points" for lack of a better phrase in holding the pieces and pivoting to make curves in order to avoid stopping, adjusting, creating flat spots. Nothing you can do but keep doing it until you get the feel for it. Use scrap wood to practice when you don't have anything you really need to make. Keep up the good work.
  15. Yeah, I'm nothing if not persistent... or hard headed... I wanted to give the saw every opportunity to win me over. But in the end I have to break up with her... just before Valentine's Day... LOL
  16. I still love making the goofy little puzzles, it's very relaxing to me. On a daily basis, I cut for only about 90 minutes a day unless it's crunch time for a big event. And the whole idea behind cutting 5 a day is so I don't end up in those crunch situations. We'll see how many years I last. Besides, I'm very routine oriented. :-)
  17. I love the Hawk BM26... it's a great cutting, precise saw, but it's just not the saw for me. I swapped it out with my DeWalt in my cutting area over the weekend. I won't get into why it isn't the right saw for me, that's all covered in another post I made a week or two ago. It's just like Ford -vs- Chevy, Toyota -vs- Honda, Nike -vs- Reebok, it boils down to personal preference. I can imagine someone who does fretwork and detail cutting would love it. And someone who doesn't feel the need to cut 1600 puzzles in one year. ;-) If anyone in North Carolina or nearby is interested in getting a great saw I'll give you a good deal, let me know. You can use it as an excuse to enjoy a weekend at the beach. ;-) I'm in no hurry to get rid of it, it's not in my way.
  18. Once I got more 45, I threw away the rest of the can of 77... that stuff is pure evil. LOL
  19. Hi Jes, welcome aboard. The motion of the scroll saw always looks unusual on video. On my DeWalt, I'm running at speed 7 out of 8, it just looks slow. If you have any interest, here is one of the animal puzzle patterns to give a try. Let me know if you have any other questions. Iggy Rescue1.pdf
  20. I like to look like a professional as opposed to the one trick pony hack that I am. LOL Yes, I use 2 blades... one for the word puzzles out of poplar and one for the kids puzzles out of pine. :-)
  21. I really hope I don't get on too many peoples nerves, but... attached is something I just put together listing the different things I use such as the shelf liner, shrink wrap bags, mineral oil, etc. Since a lot of folks ask me about this stuff I finally put it all together with links to where the items can be bought. Obviously this is just a listing of what I use, not necessarily the best options or choices, but things I've found to be useful or good quality. Let me know if any questions. 22. If they weren't marked in the package they came in, it would be a total guess as to what brand, type, size, etc. Best thing to do is buy some variety packs of Flying Dutchman or Olson, or whatever brand you're interested in and be sure to keep them in the packaging they come in until you set up a blade sorting system. P.S. You'll drive yourself crazy trying to figure out what blades to try/use. :-) Just don't overthink it.
  23. Test tube holder and plastic tubes. I use the sticker from the baggy the blades came in to wrap around the tube. I need to buy some stickers for blades that don't come with a sticker.
  24. Amazon used to carry the 12" wide shelf liner, but stopped, so I order it from Walmart, free shipping with $35 order https://www.walmart.com/ip/Duck-Brand-Peel-Stick-Adhesive-Laminate-Clear-12-in-x-36-ft/16224481
  25. FYI - 3M 45 from Amazon... https://www.amazon.com/3M-General-Purpose-45-Adhesive/dp/B000PCWRMC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1517086249&sr=8-1&keywords=3m+45
