  1. FYI - This is likely much cheaper than blue tape, depending on how big an area you usually cover and ease of use of course... then I spray the entire surface with 3M General Purpose 45 and apply my patterns. https://jet.com/product/detail/860f37e484c34291bcce83bf4576aee6?jcmp=pla:ggl:JD_dur_Cwin_Home_Decor_a3:home_decor_kitchen_storage_other_a3:na:PLA_786096686_49640021988_pla-312879038529:na:na:na:2&code=PLA15&pid=kenshoo_int&c=786096686&is_retargeting=true&clickid=11a5a43b-8b3c-4c6a-9729-1c855416b43f When I went to get the link to it on Amazon I saw that they're no longer carrying it... so I guess I'll be trying out Jet.com in the near future.
  2. Not sure how humid it is where you are, but have you had this happen during the warmer months before?
  3. There's your problem... "need" is such a useless word... WANT is much more important and exciting.
  4. Status is still AWAITING FULFILLMENT... tick tock, tick tock... waiting... waiting... I may call them today since they charged my credit card the moment I placed the order Sunday I'd like to know when to expect it to arrive.
  5. FYI - I was just speaking with Harvey on the phone about a custom pattern I needed and during our conversation I asked if he had a "master list" of his 700+ puzzle patterns and he said he had a pretty comprehensive list and he's sending me a copy. I'll scan it and then find a way to share it with everyone.
  6. Smart man... GOLDENDOODLE and SAXOPHONE... the two most intricate of all the Harvey Byler patterns in my opinion.
  7. Yep... Newfoundland is ok, at least he's big and fluffy. :-) Here is is, along with the KINGCHARLES and the CAVALIER mentioned earlier.
  8. That was actually one of my early challenges... Fortunately I came up with a simple solution... layering... I can fit about 107 puzzles in this tub in about 11 layers separated by cardboard.
  9. Ha! Actually Harvey drew both a KINGCHARLES and a CAVALIER... separately thank goodness!
  10. After cutting about 1200 animal puzzles there are a couple that I really don't like to cut. Up until yesterday they were the CHOCOLATELAB due to the number of letters crammed into a dog body and the SCHNAUZER due to the amount of fur detail that needed to be cut. Well, now my new least favorite is... the GOLDENDOODLE... a perfect combination of the other two... a lot of letters and a heck of a lot of fur. I had gotten the pattern a few months ago but when I saw it, I decided I'd only cut one if someone asked... well someone asked this past Saturday so I had to bite the bullet. I'm honestly hoping nobody else wants one in the near future. LOL Iggy
  11. You all blow me away with your work. Fabulous. Brian, how long did you work on that piece? Just curious.
  12. Stunning. Beautiful work!
  13. Big Mutha (Bushton Manufacturing) I'm reading the owners manual right now... http://www.hawkwoodworkingtools.com/files/SawManuals/BM-SERIES_SAW_MANUAL_4.pdf
  14. OK, my order is in for the Hawk BM26... I look forward to setting up the new beast and learning how to cut on it.
  15. You take all of the fun and excitement out of it Dave, buying without testing adds a level of intrigue, mystery and surprise.
  16. The saw weighs 97 pounds, I was surprised it didn't cost more to ship. LOL They could have easily sold it for $1550 and said FREE SHIPPING to make folks feel better.
  17. Tony, my top criteria is... low/no maintenance. The Jet and Seyco are closer in design to the Dewalt with many bearings and moving parts requiring routine maintenance, correct? Hegner and Hawk are literally "a few drops of oil here and here" every so often and are easy enough to replace parts that literally anyone can do it if necessary. Am I correct in what I've heard and read?
  18. Thanks to the SSV brain trust for coming together and providing great information, recommendations and experiences. This is exactly why I created this post. After reviewing everything said, I'm now leaning towards a new Hawk BM26... Until you convince me to go with something else.
  19. How about this for a mystery... $1400 saw for $300... I texted him asking what brand and model. He said he wasn't sure, he'd check and let me know some time... Now I wait and wonder... https://raleigh.craigslist.org/tls/6143462579.html
  20. Found a used Hawk... from the year 2000? Let me know if this is a good model and a good price for it please. https://raleigh.craigslist.org/tls/6151231855.html
  21. Darn you Hawk guys... now you're going to make me dig deeper into looking at them. ;-) Seriously, this is exactly why I posted the topic, I wanted to hear about all of my options. I have more homework to do now. The BM26 is their top model?
  22. If you folks are tired of my updates/results, just say so, it won't bother me in the least. I don't want to clutter up the board. Week 3 of the local Farmers Market is in the books and it was almost a record breaker. If a small rain storm hadn't come thru 45 minutes before closing time I might have tied or broken my record of 36. As it is, I sold 33 puzzles today. My 1 year anniversary of selling. I couldn't be more pleased. $715 in my pocket, ready to go towards a new saw... if I can make a final decision... I was all set for the Hegner, but hearing good things about the Hawk as well... but that's a topic being discussed in the General forum currently. My booth setup is finally just about how I want it... after tinkering with it for a year. LOL Beach day for me and Mrs. Iggy tomorrow. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
  23. Good stuff Brad. I looked at the Hawk and they look impressive. Asking about saw brands is like starting a discussion of Ford versus Chevy. Thanks for the info.
  24. Thanks Bill, quite the seal of approval.
  25. Thanks Scott, I appreciate you sharing your vast experience with so many types of saws. My favorite sentence was "For your puzzle making I think the Hegner will outlast 15-20 Dewalts before doing any maintenance." I won't mind it cutting a bit slower, it'll help to teach me patience. LOL I'll order extra clamps so that I can pre-feed 3 blades and have them ready as I wear them out (every 4 or 5 puzzles). I rarely cut long enough in a day to go through more than 3 blades. Then I'll swap out the bad ones at the end of the day and have fresh ones ready for the next day.
