  1. Great work on a great design. Think I might try stack cutting for the first time. That's if you want to share the pattern. Dave.
  2. Brilliant work, everything about it I like. I learned a little from the video as well. I need a workshop, stop working outside when it's only 5degrees. Better eyesight. A new saw. And a lot more patience. Thanks for the upload.
  3. Love the anchor, might pinch the idea one day.
  4. I did try a little color for the birds but couldn't find a way to give it a very light hint. Maybe I could of tried color after sealing the wood more, might try that way another time.Cheers everyone. Dave.
  5. The cut outs are gone, I just put various coloured cards between it and a backer board till I found a color I liked. Then sealed it to make it waterproof. The frame I made from inch and half square stock. Routed all the outside, routed a half inch channel on the inside so it would hold the frond and back together. Finish is medium oak stain on cheap soft wood frame and not the best birch ply. Please explain Rockytime, what can't you see? Thanks for all the comments.
  6. Big thanks to Birchbark for help with the pattern. This is my first entry to the bragging section.
  7. Thanks everyone, I'll keep practising.
  8. Cheers Roly, will try Jewsons, I'm sure there's a local to me. The place I normally use for timber would sell only a full sheet fo nearly £50.
  9. Think it's just a cheap birch ply, it's not as good as I expected. In the uk I have to get it delivered, no local stockists. It was described as " laser cut for hobbyists" Thanks for all the comments, when I decide on the finish I will post a pic in the bragging section.
  10. Wondered who would spot the deliberate mistake. This is a gift for my friends John and Emma Robbins, so yes 2b's is correct this time.
  11. I'm not that happy with color myself, glad it was just a try on the reverse. Maybe if the wood was darker,,,, but that's another try.
  12. Hi, this is about no.6 project for me. Please be as critical as you, pick as many faults as you can. I've also turned it upside to try a hint of color to see what happens. Yes or no for the color.
  13. Some good answers thank you. My saw has only one speed, it's cheap. I mentioned speed as in my feeding speed. I have tried different blades, but still need lots more practice to learn which blade is best for which jobs. I always tension the blade as much as possible, sometimes overtight. Again practice and patience. Here's a very rough idea of what I'm trying to get across, it's not the fuzzies more the quality of cut. (My cuts aren't this bad or I'd give up 😄) I'm using a 9mm birch ply here, not Baltic, and don't think the quality is very good.
  14. I'm very new to the scroll game so my cutting is a long way from perfect yet. Still learning loads about cutting speeds, blades, and technique etc. This is what I'm trying. Some of the finer lines could with a light reshaping and just a general light sanding. I was thinking the diamond burrs are very fine, so with a light tough I could clean up easily. I've used sand paper and needle files on the other couple of things I've done, just thought a power tool would make it quicker and easier.
  15. Has any one tried using a dremel rotary tool with diamond burrs for sanding, tidying up their scroll cuts? I'm still very new to this and looking for an easy way of touching up some cuts.
  16. Amazing detail. That's a real talent.
  17. Wish I had the patience to even attempt something like this, must take days.
  18. Fantastic work. Any idea where I can get the guitar pattern?
  19. Love it. Could estimate how long to cut something like this. The detail is extremely fine. Do you sand the cuts after its finished before final coatings? I'm a beginner just picking up tips, but love all care and bike related stuff.
  20. Fantastic work Larry. Are there any plans or instructions for making these? Would love to have a try.

    Biker plaque

Can anyone put a link to the pattern, I can't find it bit would love to try it.
  22. Yes, there is no supplier in the uk, so it has to shipped in.
  23. Been trying to track down press and seal but it works out about 40dollars here in the UK.
  24. Some fantastic tips there. I like the idea of the laser prints ironed directly to wood but I only have inkjet printers. Might look into the photo copy option though, or maybe invest in a laser printer after a few tries.
  25. Thanks everyone. Love the idea of blue tape then sticking the pattern to that. Sounds like the easiest removal method and might stop sop of the fine edge splintering. Will try that next time. I'm presuming by blue tape, it's just a low tack decorators tape, in the uk we just call it masking tape mainly. Just watched the video clip and that's cleared that up. Brilliant.
