  1. Grampa, Here's the final product. It went over really well for his birthday today. Thanks Again
  2. Thank You!! Got to make a little sawdust today without being bothered!!
  3. Grampa, that is fantastic. Thank you!!! Hopefully get a chance to start working on it this weekend!!
  4. Hi gang, I've had a busy few months and haven't gotten much scrolling done. I'd like to get back in the swing of things with a special project. We got my son a 1 year old cat for his 11th birthday and his rapidly failing health caused him to cross the rainbow bridge last month. My son will be 28 in a few weeks. I was hoping someone would be able to do me a pattern from one of these pictures, preferably the one he is in. He's a tuxedo so not a lot of contrast Thank you in advance
  5. Saw Noah there years ago with one of my sons class trips. It was amazing. Not often you have elephants and other animals walking down the aisle to the stage. We live about 45 minutes away and have wanted to go to other shows, just haven't gotten there.

    Thanks Travis

I moved the cursor around and heard the popping and my first reaction was "What did I just do? If I break all of them will I be banned to the Scrollsaw Woodshed?" Felt relieved when they all came back. Merry Christmas All!!!
  7. Absolutely PERFECT Paul- Thank you!!!! Can't wait to tackle this.
  8. Been away from the Saw and the Boards for a while but hopefully can get back in the swing of things after the holidays. I was wondering if any of you pattern masters would be able to make a pattern of this picture of my nephew's house and barn. I'd like to make an 8x10 fretwork of mostly the house and barn with some grounds and sky. Hope it is a good picture to make a pattern. Thanks in advance.
  9. Fantastic Job Dave!!!!!!!
  10. Hammer and Duck Tape—- works every time.
  11. I’ve done 2 doortoppers that were about 28” long. I have a Delta 20”. The first one I used straight blades, had to use multiple entrance holes and had to spin it to get it to fit. The main problem was having to step back to spin it, it sometimes got caught on my shirt and made a slight mis-cut. It was also hard to keep your line because you would be standing next to it instead of behind it, what looked straight was actually a slight angle. I ended up turning the saw off until I was positioned right then start again. The second one I used spiral blades and it was much easier. Got pretty good with moving forward, backward, right and left. No issues with the depth. I personally would rather not do a piece like that in pieces. Don’t know if I would be able to glue it together to make it look right. They are fun projects though.
  12. Thanks Jes! I used 1/4" BB, treated it with Danish Oil then used 2 coats of Minwax Oak Polyshades. The backing is also 1/4" BB painted black. I took the picture before I glued the backing on, they do line up in the finished project.
  13. That is awesome “vision” of how the wood should become an art piece. I particularly like the “clouds” in the sky. You placed the fence and cows in the perfect spots to bring out that effect too!!
  14. That is a great job!!! I’ve been chicken to attempt boxes but you’ve got me thinking I need to give it a try. I could use some brownie points too.
  15. Made my second door topper to replace my nativity one from last month. It’s “Five Seasons of Life” by Clark Weeks. I followed suggestions made here to try spiral blades because of the 28” length and am happy how it was easier to manipulate for the cuts. Still need some practice with them. I used FD spirals #1 and #3. Ironically, the middle panel I used FD #5 for the straight cut and it was the worst cut of the project. Used the spirals for the rest and they turned out better, probably focused on them a little more.
  16. That is looking fantastic. Do artwork like this and you can break as many rules as you'd want.
  17. Started to respond that I thought this was hitting close to home but had to run to the bathroom mid-sentence.
  18. It's about 31 inches. It was a little tricky manipulating it to make the right cuts but probably one of the most fun projects I've done. Working on the offseason replacement now that I should be able to finish up in a few days. Darn work keeps getting in the way.
  19. Great pattern---Great job!!!!!
  20. Posted it in Bragging Rights but many pages back at this point . Don’t know if fits the definition of fretwork but here it is.
  21. I like the blue as a "sky" background.
  22. It's a fretwork type I use 1/4" BB. I posted a Nativity one I did for Christmas. They're designs by Clark Weeks that I got at The Wooden Teddy Bear.
  23. Very nice work!! Newbie in name only apparently.
  24. Great work!!! Snowed in for the weekend?? Each one of those pieces would take me weeks.
  25. That’s what I usually do. Had a senior moment and forgot to test, just loaded the blade.
