  1. Yes each led light is drilled out. I measured the space between each light. They are battery operated lights.
  2. Spent the day turning a pallet into a Xmas tree. Needless to say Jessica is over the moon
  3. Thanks Irene, I do like the idea of using a rag. I hate seeing brush strokes.
  4. My shed is really cold at the moment and spray painting is off the agenda meantime. Thanks for the tips though. Will def use them in the future.
  5. Amazing - found it locally. This stuff? https://www.screwfix.com/p/zinsser-bulls-eye-1-2-3-primer-sealer-1ltr/10135?tc=AB7&ds_kid=92700030936902416&ds_rl=1241687&ds_rl=1245250&ds_rl=1243321&ds_rl=1245250&ds_rl=1249481&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI6sjPrsXq3gIV2Od3Ch1cwQlVEAQYAiABEgKDaPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  6. Thanks Don, It is mdf. I will have look to see if I can find the U.K. equivalent of Zinser.
  7. Jessica would like me to paint her teachers word art purple. Apparently it’s her favourite colour. I don’t want to mess the piece up so woul appreciate some tips and advice on how to best do it. Given that there are quite a few holes that need painted I thought maybe pouring some acrylic paint into a bag and dipping the piece into it. Then I thought it would be a terrible idea and I’d be better using a wee brush.
  8. Thanks, I used a 5 Pegas skip tooth blade. My main sanding task is to remove the transition marks that I make.
  9. After watching the Inkscape tutorials by Travis I actually managed to design and cut my first pattern. Its not much but boy am I pleased with myself. Still a fair bit of sanding but Jessica’s Nursery teacher should like it.
  10. Thanks Jerry. So much to learn.
  11. After much faffing and scratching I have made my first letter pattern. I wonder if anyone could have a wee look and let me know if it would be suitable for cutting etc please? It is for one of Jessica's Nursery school teachers. It is made in Inkscape following the brilliant tutorials by Travis. Mrs Wood.svg Mrs Wood.pdf
  12. I quickly reached a plateau with my Scrollsaw efforts after the first few weeks. However for a brief few minutes this afternoon I realised I was holding the wood down without using the death grip I had developed and the blade was cutting the wood without being deflected. As soon as I gave it conscious thought it went back to normal I spend ages looking through all the threads that you guys post of your outstanding work and usually think that there will be no way I could be as good as you. However feeling that wee bit more encouraged today. I still cut awkwardly and lose the line often but the positive from today’s cut from a Travis pattern was that I was confident to spin the wood at the right angles
  13. Jessica would love these. Think I will show her these in the morning and I reckon we will be attempting to make something similar.
  14. What a talent. I hope that one day I will be as half as good as you. Inspired again.
  15. No way! How the heck is that possible. I am in awe! Superb work.
  16. Interesting thread. I can’t seem to find these in the U.K. They look ideal so I think I will try and make one.
  17. Paul, thanks for taking the time to do this for me. It looks great and I will try and do it justice. Top work
  18. Nice work.
  19. My elderly good friend saw the clock that I am making for my father in law and made an off the cuff comment that he would love to see one in a bowling format. He meant lawn bowls. It’s a big thing in Stonehaven where I live. There must be hundreds of mainly senior citizens playing the game and some of them are really quite good at it. Stan (my friend) is in his eighties and still plays daily. I had a long look online and found very few ideas. The image below is perhaps the best I could find. The season has just ended so no opportunity to take a photograph myself. I want to make this for Stans Christmas present. Looking at the picture I could really use some advice on how best to make a clock using the bowler figure That is if you guys think it’s a suitable picture. Andy
  20. Hi Len. I didn’t want the hole all the way through the piece. If it was a wall hanging clock then that what I would probably do.
  21. I get you. Cracking idea. https://www.axminster.co.uk/proxxon-router-base-ofv-505907
  22. I have no idea what the species the wood is but I think Bill may be right! Looking at images on google it looks very similar.
  23. Fortuitous topic. I just started looking at these kind of tools. This brand seems to be highly thought off in the model forums I looked at https://www.axminster.co.uk/proxxon-fbs-240-e-multitool-flexi-shaft-package-deal-718858?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhtOfz7TC3gIVEed3Ch3exQZiEAQYAyABEgKSDfD_BwE Cheaper than the Dremel 4000 kit too Accessories look good quality https://m.reichelt.com/gb/en/drill-stand-mbs140-s-proxxon-28606-p30207.html?CTYPE=0&MWSTFREE=0&PROVID=2788&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhtOfz7TC3gIVEed3Ch3exQZiEAQYCiABEgIKDfD_BwE&&r=1
  24. My ugly mug. Taken at the top of Mount Ventoux.
  25. Made some progress today. New bit arrived and it cut through the wood like butter. Lesson learnt - buy cheap buy twice. Sanding time
