  1. Thanks, I used a 5 Pegas skip tooth blade. My main sanding task is to remove the transition marks that I make.
  2. After watching the Inkscape tutorials by Travis I actually managed to design and cut my first pattern. Its not much but boy am I pleased with myself. Still a fair bit of sanding but Jessica’s Nursery teacher should like it.
  3. I quickly reached a plateau with my Scrollsaw efforts after the first few weeks. However for a brief few minutes this afternoon I realised I was holding the wood down without using the death grip I had developed and the blade was cutting the wood without being deflected. As soon as I gave it conscious thought it went back to normal I spend ages looking through all the threads that you guys post of your outstanding work and usually think that there will be no way I could be as good as you. However feeling that wee bit more encouraged today. I still cut awkwardly and lose the line often but the positive from today’s cut from a Travis pattern was that I was confident to spin the wood at the right angles
  4. Jessica would love these. Think I will show her these in the morning and I reckon we will be attempting to make something similar.
  5. What a talent. I hope that one day I will be as half as good as you. Inspired again.
  6. No way! How the heck is that possible. I am in awe! Superb work.
  7. Nice work.
  8. Hi Len. I didn’t want the hole all the way through the piece. If it was a wall hanging clock then that what I would probably do.
  9. I get you. Cracking idea. https://www.axminster.co.uk/proxxon-router-base-ofv-505907
  10. I have no idea what the species the wood is but I think Bill may be right! Looking at images on google it looks very similar.
  11. Fortuitous topic. I just started looking at these kind of tools. This brand seems to be highly thought off in the model forums I looked at https://www.axminster.co.uk/proxxon-fbs-240-e-multitool-flexi-shaft-package-deal-718858?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhtOfz7TC3gIVEed3Ch3exQZiEAQYAyABEgKSDfD_BwE Cheaper than the Dremel 4000 kit too Accessories look good quality https://m.reichelt.com/gb/en/drill-stand-mbs140-s-proxxon-28606-p30207.html?CTYPE=0&MWSTFREE=0&PROVID=2788&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhtOfz7TC3gIVEed3Ch3exQZiEAQYCiABEgIKDfD_BwE&&r=1
  12. Made some progress today. New bit arrived and it cut through the wood like butter. Lesson learnt - buy cheap buy twice. Sanding time
  13. Oh my goodness. That is superb in every way. How is that possible. Magic ?
  14. Jessica has her paint’s out again and with mummy’s help she brightnened Santa’s day. We will frame it next.
  15. Lovely words for your daughter. They are the best words ever
  16. Fantastic. Every single one looks brilliant
  17. Hmmm I get what you are saying. I see there are clocks with bigger diameters. Awesome
  18. Genius ! Thanks I will definitely use this idea. Thanks
  19. Another great tip. You guys are certainly cheering me up. Thanks. I love your design. Is that a personal pattern? Also the clock is phenomenal. Spent ages looking online for a nautical themed one without success.
  20. I like this idea. Thanks for taking the time to share.
  21. Thanks for this. New bit should arrive tomorrow and I will use my friends drill press. Another thing to buy
  22. I had it clamped. You can see the bit didn’t follow the pilot hole I bored. No drill press unfortunately. Just ordered some quality bits. Will start again tomorrow
  23. So the clock and drill bit arrived today. I drilled a few test holes on some scrap wood. Feeling confident I set about drilling the actual piece. The forstner bit wondered off centre and the piece is ruined. I did drill a tiny pilot hole to avoid this. I guess all bits are not equal. Feeling gutted.
  24. Nice tip. I raided the wife’s make up cupboard and found some. Very handy indeed
  25. Had a go at stacking today. 3 pieces of 3mm plywood held together with gaffa tape. Was chuffed with the middle piece at the end of cutting. Hardly any fuzzies and no breakouts. I used a Pegas #3 spiral and still found it a bit quick. I still have a good bit of sanding where I have made mistakes but I’m beginning to enjoy sitting with bits of sandpaper whilst relaxing in the warm lounge. I’m aiming to split my time between learning flat blades and spirals. Think it makes more sense doing that My new quick realease arrived for the Hegner and it was a joy to use. So much quicker between cuts. You guys really motivate me and I appreciate it. Pattern by Shadylady0447.
