  1. I made this for the Mrs last weekend. Frame is cherry
  2. I read a review on the 788 that said the depth of cut is adjustable from 3/4” to 2”. That’s not right, right? And what could that mean? The arms only have a finite up and down movement frankly, I’m a bit perturbed with it. The forward and back movement of the blade is so much that when i hang on the back of the blade to make a sharp turn it vibrates the workpiece a lot. Does anyone else see this in their 788? Can i tweek something?
  3. it's beautiful. What is the outside diameter of it?
  4. Does anyone else do something like this? I consulted the scrap bucket and came up with this. It’s mounted with magnets.
  5. Welcome aboard. I haven’t been here very long either but i have been treated very well here. Nice place. You’ll like it here.
  6. Stickland Propane's finest. great work.
  7. I like this truck. Looks great. Question: are the wheels just sitting under it, attached to the fenders, or what?
  8. Did you make the pattern of Matt and Festus? Id like to cut that one to display in the house
  9. Great work. I join the applause on the framing too
  10. Awesome
  11. This is kind of a long thread and it might have been mentioned already but i have had great success using grit from sandpaper. I get a piece of 40 or 60 and rake it a little with a screwdriver, letting some fall on the glue. Then clamp a little so the glue starts get thin. Remove the clamp and position it by hand where you want it. Then clamp down and it will stay in alignment. I make a lot of bandsaw boxes and this really works.
  12. Well I spent a little time today and finally made one. It tests out good
  13. I spent my entire life in the garage, braving all the Nebraska elements. Then 2 years ago we downsized and bought a patio townhouse. Downstairs I have a room with a concrete floor and a door. I have taken up the art of dust collection since, but it sure is nice to have it the same temperature year round. Not to mention not having to roll everything back to the edges to get cars in the garage. Plus I think it is really nice to be able to walk away from something and come back later, knowing that nothing changed in my absence.
  14. I keep coming back to look at this. I'm not a cat person, but wow, this is really really good. I think this would take me forever to complete. I am amazed.
  15. That’s very nice. Is the center zebra wood? the movie is from 1996 and is full of stars and funny. A parody of an alien invasion movie. I don’t know anyone who has seen it that doesn’t smile when the subject comes up. My wife talks about quilting in retirement. My grandma always had quilting parties with her friends. All by hand and with a singer treadle machine. I live in Lincoln Nebraska where we have the national quilting museum. And that’s what I got to say about quilting. Heh, I feel like Forest Gump.
  16. Have you seen the movie Mars Attacks?
  17. Wedges and stops. That’s brilliant. Have you made stuff like hex or octagon frames? what im going to make is like yours. I’m going to have sides about 1or 1.5” tall. But other than that it’ll be the same. I have always made frames just using the miter gauge. It’s no secret how much harder it is that way and I’m ashamed that I haven’t done this sooner.
  18. The sled will be the typical plywood with 2 tight runners and 2 PERFECT* 45° rails for making picture frames. *perfect..... Or as close as is humanly possible. The goal is to be able to make frames and not have to worry about which side of the jig cut which piece of frame. So it depends on 2 exact 45's aligned exactly with the blade. If the frame parts have any gaps I will make another sled. I hope it won't come to that.
  19. From Mars Attacks. 1/8" bb 8x10. 107 holes. I haven't framed it yet. I am in the process of making a table saw miter sled. I decided no more frames until I make things easier on myself.
  20. Awesome. I like the facial expressions
  21. I’m amazed. How long did it take?
  22. Very cool. Is the frame curly maple?
  23. Here she is. I made a walnut frame for it. I show the back so you can see the keyhole bit hanger. It will sit flush against the wall.
  24. Thanks for that tip. The backer on this is poster board. Then the back is another 1/4” piece, all glued together. I used my keyhole bit in the router horizontally for hanging so it will hang flush against the wall.
  25. It’s a simple one. I call it electric Heisenberg. The lesson I learned is to not use 1/4” stock. It limits the viewing angle a lot.
