  1. This light mounts to the the back of my saw. It does not use any clamp but mounts into a hole at the back of the stand and can be turned or pointed any direction you want. Completely adjustable.
  2. I have always used a 2x4 on edge or a 1x4. I've used the 2x4 for well over 30 years. Cheap and works great. The plastic tubes are the same ones that held all the blades that came with my Scroll Saw when I bought it brand new 34 years ago.
  3. A big part of what I made went to family members. The paddle I once made I gave to my younger Son who at the time had 2 Daughters and 1 Son. His older Daughter kept that paddle and sent the picture to me on my Face Book Page. She got lots of comments when she posted it on her page. The last time I looked it was up in the hundreds.
  4. As I recall I never had any problem with the blade tension. I think the secret was not to push your work faster than the saw could cut.
  5. Many years ago after trying a few different scroll saws I purchased an old Vintage Homecraft Scroll Saw. During that time I was spending hours every day out in my shop using a saws. My hands would hurt due to the vibration of the saws I was using almost to the point it was hard to make a fist. After I bought the Homecraft that pain went away, it was one of the smoothest running saws I ever owned. After some time went by, like most of you out there, I started wanting a new saw. I bought a brand new Excalibur that at the time came with all the goodies and I fell in love with it. After I got my new saw and experienced how nice it was I made the big mistake of selling the old Homecraft. I soon found out the Ex- also vibrated but just not as bad as the other saws that use to hurt my hands. I still have the Excalibur but I stopped spending hours on the saw. I found out that the best saw is the one you are most comfortable with.
  6. Your work looks great. I like the plates, they catch a persons eye and causes them to study the cut out a little closer. I have always loved putting several types of wood on the same project. The picture I am adding was made from 1 inch Red Oak, 1 inch Black Walnut and 1/4 inch Baltic Birch. Half the fun working on the saw is experimenting . The item shown is not one of my better pieces but it was done the way I wanted. The second picture is 1 inch Black Walnut and 1/4 inch Baltic Birch.
  7. I've been doing this for a lot of years and have collected a lot of tools that don't get used that much any more. I keep telling myself that someday I am going to have a big (tool) yard sale.
  8. Got plenty of room for you, I know you would at least like the view. On a good clear day there is a beautiful view of Mt Pit (McLoughlin) with all its snow looking from the right side of my shop. Hard to see in this picture, but it is there hidden in the clouds.
  9. Real nice work. Here are 2 pieces where I was experimenting and painted one of the backers with a light and dark blue metallic paint and the other using just the dark blue to make it ;look like water.
  10. My Man Cave originally was a Motor Home Garage but when I bought my new home I converted it to my shop. It now contains all my wood working tools and equipment, lawn mowers, and small suv.
  11. I agree with you, I had the same trouble with the spiral blades cutting soft woods. The only really good thing I found using the spiral was in cutting boards that was to long to turn completely around on my scroll saw and needed to be held steady pointed the same direction (side ways) while making the cuts.
  12. I've found spiral blades useful in tight areas but not for long straight or curving cuts. With thin blades I can make some very sharp turns. I only tried using them years ago and found I would have to change blades to often for most cutting.
  13. You can enter my Man Cave through the side door or the big roll up door on the front side. As you come into my Cave on the left aide you will first see my #1-Air Compressor,#2-Wood Master that comes with drum sander, gang blade saw bar, planer and shaper with many cutting blades, #3- Old Craftsman Table Saw, #4-Large Lathe, #5-Dust Collector, #6-Chop Saw, #7-Radial Arm Saw and #8-Wood Jointer. #9-On the right side the first thing you will see is a good sized section of wall covered with some of my projects. #10-Band Saw, #11-Shaper, #12-Belt Sander, #13Router Table.#14-Excalibur Scroll Saw, #15-Delta Scroll Saw, #16-Scroll Saw Blades, #17-Dremel with flex shaft for hand drilling holes mounted to stand, #18-Dremel Drill Press, #19-Hand Drill Press, #20- Chisel and Blade Sharpener, #21-Grinder, #22- small Bench Band Band Saw, #23 Larg Bench Drill Press and #24-Small Portable Lathe. There are more. but to much to list.
  14. I'll try to give everyone a good idea of what my Wood Shop Christmas looks like. Santa's Sled and Reindeer is all made from wood cut on the saw and hand carved. The fire place I made from heat resistant panel that had been fire blackened from a wood heater and the fire logs has flicker lights that looks like real flames. The X-Mas trees were cut on the scroll saw, stack cutting 6 pieces exactly alike, beveling the inside edge on my belt sander and then holding the 6 pieces together with rubber bands at the top under the star and another at the bottom around the trunk. The Manger was made from scraps of wood, the Star I cut on the scroll saw and the figures were unpainted clay that my Wife and I painted. The Santa and Moon I cut from 2 thick pieces of wood and then hand carved. The wall decoration I cut on the saw and my Wife painted it. The wood tree ornaments were made on the saw and the double faced Christmas sign I cut on the saw and turned the spindles on my lathe. My Wife painted the pictures on both sides. (Sorry about the last picture. There was snow on the ground that caused a lot of glare. The picture Is a Partridge setting in a wreath with pears.)
  15. There has been a few times I have been accused of using someones pattern and not giving them any credit. These 2 shelves had no pattern. I made them one day when I had nothing better to do and drew my on patterns. I made each shelf smaller and narrower as the go up. on the one with the doors the heart on the top door protrudes out 3 times. The spindles I turned myself on my lathe. Some of the other shelves (if they were someones pattern was altered to fit my own taste.)
