  1. no zero clearance. Don't know the #ply. I'll look tomorrow.
  2. Like that Pegas MGT #1 on your site?
  3. Started another pattern last night. Got the antlers cut...and they broke. 1/4 birch plywood, Olson pinless 5RG blade. What did I do wrong
  4. I checked around and ordered it from WalMart. Picked it up in a day and a half, may be in stock in big cities.
  5. Works slick. Comes with a 24 tooth blade and I bought a 60 tooth for cutting 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood. Easy to cut with one hand leaving the other to hold the work. Blade on the left side blows sawdust out right (even has a shop vac. adapter) depth and angle adjustments just like the big ones. Uses 4 1/2" standard blades.
  6. Got a new toy today. I figured most of the wood I will use will be 1x or 1/4. Table saw is under a pile of stuff (got to clean out the shop...maybe next year) and the circular saw is a pain trying to cut smaller pieces of 1/4". Neither would be small, light and packable to go in the RV this winter. I think this little saw will be just right. Anyone else use something like this?
  7. Some good ideas...Thanks! I've played with Inkscape some, but haven't looked at GIMP yet at all. Guess I need to...lol. Didn't think of cutting out the islands first and gluing them to a backer. Good to know. I'll be starting a hummingbird in the next few days and may need to do that with a flower part.
  8. Fantastic work on both!! That round box is really unique and interesting! I love the Harley box!! Newbie got to ask...how did you make the lid? I can think of a number of designs that would look really cool. With the mirror image on the inside, it almost looks as if there is a sandwich layer of dark wood in the middle...? It's a beautiful box.
  9. The pinless adapters that came with it used wing nuts. I didn't even check to see if they are the same size, I'll do that today. * I checked and the wing nuts in the furnished adapters are too short.
  10. Awesome project! You did fantastic. And I really love the way you posted the picture, the pattern, and the finished piece!! It really helps a newbie like me visualize the whole project.
  11. Just saw this thread...WOW! I like those! We travel a lot in our RV as well as all of our friends. What wood is that? Do you make the patterns with Inkscape? I have to try one (some) of those. You did a beautiful job on all of them!
  12. OK people...don't laugh too hard. This is the 1st full pattern I've cut. Practiced a little on a cedar fence board then cut this out of 1/4 birch plywood. I started with the buck's antlers then head and neck. I would cut a little then go across and drop out the piece...then continue to the next section. I cut most of the "LOVE" and dropped out the piece...it was then that I realized I was missing the center of the L, O, and E! I looked at a copy of the pattern and there they were. I think you call them "floaters"? So I just finished the doe for practice. Wasn't really a scroll saw pattern, just one of a bunch of pictures on the internet. Now I know what to look for when I think I've found a project! Does anyone have a real pattern like this?
  13. https://wenproducts.com/collections/parts/products/upper-lower-blade-holder I forgot to order the 2 of the Allen head screws M4x16. So I just grabbed a couple of hex head bolts for now (they are silver in the pictures). I'll change so I can use a T handle Allen wrench or find a metric nut driver and keep these. Scrappile has a good idea about one with a knob end! I'll look into that. Thanks for the idea Scrappile !
  14. Cool! Those are really nice looking! Might have to try that some day. Thanks!
  15. Our 21# Tabby The neighbor kitties that hang out on our deck...maybe because we feed them...? The new batch, just starting to come over. So funny...still unsure on their little legs. Walk like they are drunk.
  16. OK...I'm new...what the heck is he talking about?? Picture please!
  17. I ordered new blade holders for my WEN 3921 the other day. They came in yesterday and I tried them today. Very nice!! They eliminate the micky mouse adapters that came with it. Although I haven't looked at the blade holders, I think it works more like the better saws that are pinless only. They are still capable of using pinned blades.
  18. Good idea! I think I have a flex shaft around here somewhere.
  19. lol...BOO I guess. Our cat BOO is much fatter, looks like Garfield. My wood cat is close to right proportioned. s
  20. I'm Gary. Yea I found a DeWalt for a good price but not steal...but I couldn't get to it in time. It was in west Kansas City about 2-2 1/2 hours away. And a couple of others, but couldn't bring myself to a sizeable trip, if it was still there. I'll keep watching and someday I'll fine a great deal on one I don't have to drive 500 miles to get to...lol.
  21. LOL...they did make some ugly cars...
  22. Thank you! I want to try the hobby and see if I can do it before I sink a bunch of money into it. I know the WEN and a ton of others like it will have more vibration and not as accurate as say a DeWalt, Excalibur and others of that design...but way cheaper to "try it on for size"'. It's like moving the tip of your index finger up and down...one from the elbow and the other from your knuckle.
  23. I was in Lowes earlier this week and they had one of each. I already had a Dremel and looked at the drill press option. But then I saw the plunge unit and thought that would be more versatile as others had said...so I bought the plunge. After trying it that night I'm sure I made the right choice. I figured out (with the help of You Tube) how to use the WEN pinless adapters. Now I can use the Dremel and a 1/8" bit or smaller (largest that will fit in my Dremel) as the pin blades didn't fit in the hole. But holding the blade, adapter, and tightening the wing nut I need 3 hands...and I was born with only 2. So I found and ordered a couple of blade holders that replace the stock chrome holders making it a pinless blade only saw. They should be in today or tomorrow. Has anyone done this? Does it work better?
  24. I did the same thing earlier this week...lol. I was at Lowes and walked by the wood flooring isle...stopped and looked at the samples and ones marked down. The thought went through my head…" wonder if anyone has tried to scroll one of those"...lol. I was going to ask...but being a newbie I thought I had better keep my mouth shut. I'm glad to know there are others that weird scrolling thoughts when they see a piece of wood! If I see a solid wood floor sample I'll grab it!
  25. Wood floor samples?
