  2. Thanks prepius, good idea, and It is one of my concern , and the actuals 2 bulbs are in a bad place, too near the lamp-shade. Do you know the good distance for a bulb near wood ?
  3. Hello scrollsaw pro ! After my garden flowers season , I will have that interesting project ! I have a ceramic lamp that my mother at the age of 17 in 1927, had painted at her school with the nuns , and I would like to make a wood lamp-shade , on my scrollsaw. Birds and flowers will be most of the patterns as the lamp, and as you see I will make it octogonal . The actual lamp-shade in stained glass was made by my sister, which is beautiful but I want to try a wood version! The actual lamp-shade (glass part ) is 10 " hight, and 15 ” in dia. at the largest point at base. The rod supporting the lamp-shade, and the top plate over the ceramic lamp are in brass, that I has just cleaned. The top round plate is 4”, and has to be there for supporting the lamp-shade. I want that we see more the brass plate than presently , with a shorter lamp-shade ) I made a test in paper to see the shape , which is smaller at 10” at the base and 8 “ hight and 4” at the top . And I would also bend the shade at 3/4 near the top , to have smaller top than 4" , but my drawing is not yet finished, still thinking about it. With the lamp colors and patterns, what would be your suggestions for the wood, or others patterns. I was thinking of a bit of ebony , mixed with others woods. Do you have, some ideas, sites, for a lamp-shade of that kind . I saw some on the web. and I try to reach one of them with no result. So I would appreciate very your advises and thank you in advance! planeur
  4. Très beau Dennis, when you write "marente", do you mean "amarante" the wood? Did you added some color to the wood? Bonne journée ! planeur

  9. Bonjour scrollsaw fan I just finished at the scrollsaw those 2 door plates for the 2 kids , 8 and 5 years old, cross the street. They are 12 in. long, and the Éliane plate is in cherry with amarante and Ebène flower's center, and Antoine's plate ( a dinosaur fan ) is in ash, with cherry dinosaur, and amarante dinosaur bird, finihed with bee wax. The back color are there favorite. They were very happy ! planeur
  10. I did that door label for my nephew’s son, ELLIOT, and while doing it, her mother told me that he like wolves, and red or orange colors. So I added this wolf (found on the web as a drawing ) which is asking the moon for a better dinner .... or girl! The wolf and rock are in a black plastic paper, that I cut from the photo, and the name is cut at the scrollsaw, with a red paper at the back. Had lot of pleasure doing those pieces, changing the concept couple of times before arriving to the final. Give him tomorrow.... planeur
  11. Hello everyone, do not come on the site not to often , but read you regulary. For the 50e anniversary of my nephew Fred, I created this clock from the back of another one , slice in 2 parts , and made in 2019. I added a new part to the clock with the word “ sensei “ in Japanese, which mean “ teacher or master “ which he is at his Karate/Justu school. Had to be very careful with the cutting of those small letters....! As you probably saw the hours numbers are the letter of “ 50 “ in French! Had lot of fun to create this one. Wood are cherry and walnut, plus a thin piece of marquetry in the center, with a oil and wax finition. planeur
  12. So if I understand well the spiral blade does not deviate as the regular blade , and give a better straight cut ? Just buy recently those blades , but did not yet cut so much pieces. Thanks Wichman I will try it. And Jerry I did your tip cutting oversize and sanding after, and I will try it on my future cutting. To small pieces for the bandsaw as for tablesaw. Well, thanks everyone Will come back with my tries! planeur
  13. Yes I know that , but I want to cut very small pieces, to small for the tablesaw, and I want the most precision as possible! Cutting by following a line is ok for me , but I need precision at the .002/3 " and very straight as on the tablesaw. I did that to make some tests, not yet finish planeur
  14. Is that guide exist like on a tablesaw, to cut a piece straight or with an angle ? I am figuring to make one in wood. Any ideas ? Thanks planeur

  19. Hello scrollsaw and sculptor pros , your advises are welcome ! This project is to thanks the brother-in-law for his weekly follow-up for over a year, regarding the evolution of the “Covid”. And he signs “Your Guardian Angel”, so to thank him and encourage him, I do this piece intarsia/sculpture from this drawing found on the web. that I modified and added the main topic of covid-19. After transfer to the wood ( cherry tree ) 1/2 in. x 8" X 8" , cutting with a scroll saw, transferring a few lines into the wood with a scalpel, rounding corners to make more clouds… and I tried to sculptered by putting my model in 3D , to make it more real with ! Not obvious ! Here it is this morning waiting for your comments and advises Was wandering for the finish with oil like Osmo satin, if I will put one color for the entire piece or many for all the differents parts as , clouds, wing, body, shirt, to let the 3D effect appear at his best. Il will do some test naturally. And some additions still to come as the eyes and others surprises .........! Thanks for your comments planeur
  20. Here some more details of the clock : This kind of projet is full of very small details which can do a difference for a clock running or not ! Even if I did cut all the gear with a great caution, I have to sand some parts again to have the less friction as possible.... ! Looking for the weight, I found those lead shut , which are enough heavy. I put some in the pendulum, and a fiberglass in front to see them. By the way do you know a easy way to reduce the size of a video ( the one I want to show you .........! ) Planeur
  21. Oyé oyé oyé.....my clock is still on my table, but as I say frequently, you do not become a watchmaker in a few weeks! With all our activites as skiing biking, walking, I had to finish others projets, and when I had some time , I was looking at it and try to learn how a clock that kind work in details. Recently I understands some importants functions , so some adjusments were made ( not finihed yet ), but ....but.... at last the clock was running for almost an hour without stopping ! So here it is temporally mounted .... Will show you soon the pendulum and weigh and clock running ( hoping ....! ) See you soon... planeur
  22. Bonjour Russel , here it is ! planeur

  24. Good morning scrollsaw artists !! I am looking for a pattern to do a lampshade like this one that I found on the web : I do not know yet the wood I will be using but certainly color wood like amarante , mahogany, cherry. The base is yellow rounded with black birds, lamp coming from my mom , that she did ( the painting ) on her school when 20 year old..... . It has a stained glass lampshade ( my sister work). I have some ideas of the shape which could be like this one up there, but more probably 6 or less sides. Thanks for your suggestions and ideas! planeur
