  1. Dude that's awesome. I didn't even know you were on here... and you are most welcome. I would never take credit for someone elses hard work. and thank you for creating that pattern and many others on your site. I want to cut a ton of your patterns but just cant find the time between work and family. And thank you for the advise. im gonna cut it 2 more times and do something different on each one for some dudes at work that absolutely love that pattern and what it represents. Thank you again!
  2. Welcome to the village. Im new as well. Lots of helpful people here all you have to do is ask. Happy scrolling
  3. Its funny because I cut a piece of 1/4 mdf to put behind it and all it did was dull out the pattern. I thought about doing just what you had said with a blue or even a red. But i was scared to pull the trigger. I really want to go all out with this one. This is the first project ive done that ive been proud of. So i figured i would see what some of the seasoned vets had to say about it!
  4. Just got done cutting this kenny hopkins pattern out. Im super proud of it. I cut it on 1/4 berch ply. I guess my question is what do i do with it. I would really like to make a frame for it but i dont know how to go about it... im sure it needs some kind of backer but what? And do i need a jointer and planer to make a nice hard wood frame for it? Because all i have is a table saw chop saw and a drillpress. Thanks
  5. Thank you all so much for the wisdom you have shared with me... its a lot to digest. But i will slowly check everything off the list. The lighting will be the first. I have junk for lights right now.
  6. Awsome job
  7. So i started sitting with my right eye looking down the line. And also keeping in mind that the blade is gonna want to naturally drift to the right helped out tremendously. Thanks for all the pionters eveyone!
  8. Thank you all for the valuable information. And yes i will try to post all my questions in the right section... i got a little excited lol. Just got done doing an other steve good design on 3/4 pine. i have an abundance of that laying around in my garage. I just didnt think it was gonna be any good for scrolling. It came out ok. I broke the "H" while sanding it though. Good practice though.
  9. Thank you all for the warm welcome. Seems like a great place to get positive feedback and show off my progress. I really feel this is a place i will visit quite often. And a special thank to Meflick... that is a lot of valuable information. And it will take some time to search thorough it all. And hermit what part of sac you from? Im over in rio linda.
  10. Hello everyone. My name is Brandon, and i am a brandnew scroller. I got my saw which is a jet 22in about a week ago for what i thought was a smoken deal. It is used but it looks like there was not many hours on it. I want to change that! Some of my first memories in my grandpas workshop were when i was 8 or so and scrolling is what i would do. So i guess its kind of a nostalgic thing for me. I really want to get into intarsia. But i know for right now i just need to focus on the basics. Im still trying to get up to speed on the forum thing and how everything works here. This is the first community ive ever joined. So thank you for having me!
  11. So just got done cutting my first real project. It was a steve good design. I put it on some 1/2 in plywood that i found. I used a fd ultra reverse #7the entire time. I tried a #3 and it broke almost immediately. I cant seem to stay on the line for the life of me. And my lines are as wavy as a flag in the wind! Does that just come with time or should i have used something different. Just looking for pointers. Thanks
  12. Hi everyone i am brand new to the village and scroll sawing. I picked up an almost new jet 22" saw and have done my youtube research on blades and have went with the fd ultra reverse blades. I now would like to know what type of wood i should be working with. Im a broke family man so i dont have a ton of money to blow on big money hardwoods. So im hoping someone can help guide me in the right direction. Thanks
