Frank, been thinking about you said about the coloured backer on the Bob Marley, my plan is to make the band of colour behind his head black just to make the wood stand out more, is this what you were meaning if not whats your idea am open to suggestions on how to do the backer Gordon

Life going a bit cr*p just now so not had chance to make much saw dust, but finally found some time so got 3 pictures cut, jimmy Hendrix,Janis Jopplin and Bob Marley they are all cut on 12mm ply and are A3 in size 11 x 16 inch sprayed with a clear lacquer, am not over happy with the Janis Jopplin but its what was asked for, still to put a black backer on the Bob Marley as his face is floating and will be glue to the backer but i am kind of undecided as to try a Jamaican back ground with thick stripes of colour

if you all seem to think that patterns degrading women is ok then good for you but this isn't 1920 if there is nothing wrong in these then why would you have to explain to your wife, its not about what i like or don't like it's about what is acceptable in this day and age and am sorry for you that you think degrading patterns are ok to have up i really am. No matter what your age age is what might have been appropriate years ago is not now a days, I think i have miss judged a lot of ppl in this site in there way of thinking, there is no justification for degrading women in any shape or form no matter what your age or what you might think.
-
hey Barb don't bow out of anything we all have our opinions, its me that has a problem with some of the drawings, ppl might say they are just drawings all i see is creepy little men drawing or cutting these images it's kinda sad when your going through the pattern library with a youngster looking for an easy pattern for them to try and that's the crap that comes up, it's a joke to title it mature when they need to grow up, Barb i don't care who i offend there is no need for childish sexist patterns like this, times have changed thank god .
-
Brenda am very much for each to there own but to have this under the heading of mature, them drawings don't represent mature in any dictionary i have ,had the title been derogatory, seedy, sexest drawings then i would have totally understood and not looked them. there are plenty of websites am sure ppl can find derogatory things on i just didn't think this was one of them. as you say each to there own.
-
And that makes it ok ? "nobody forced me to look" wow, it's one thing to be mature another thing to have seedy drawings of women like that sorry but it just doesn't sit right with me and never will, you might be fine with women being potrayed like that but on a family web site i certainly AM not. why stop at that am sure the drawings could be a lot worse and seedy but its ok because it says mature no one forced me to look. really ?
-
Just been looking for something new to cut so looked in pattern library, Not impressed at the mature set of patterns they are not mature, they are pathetic, derogatory patterns of women it was pointed out to me this is a family site, if i cut any of these and showed it to my girl friend i would have it quite rightly smashed over my head lol, i just wondered if anyone else is bothered by this i just hate anything derogatory towards women, racism, bigotry, sexism i hate it all there is no place for it in any form in this day and age, so please Travis have a look at the content in that catagory if your ok with it then fine but am not. Kevin common sense has to be prevail here am not being nasty in anyway but seriously get a grip, put your heath and safety first without your health you have nothing if its a fire hazard REMOVE IT, everyone of us have them wee bits of wood we keep thinking 'oh i could use that one day' get a friend in someone who will be honest tell you the truth about what to get rid of, someone looking from an outside opinion will always see thing differently. But fire regulations are there for a reason consider if there was a fire can you get out fast, what chemicals are you storing, who else would a fire in your place affect, are your smoke alarms working in the right places, as mentioned if you have sprinklers DON'T have anything near them or they are useless can't spray if they are blocked, all these things are there for a reason take heed it could save your life, ok rant over, and sort out your plugs it might be convient for you but doesn't mean its safe to do mate, i have dealt with fire regulations for 12 years you don't get a second chance with fire, it might be hard throwing away some wood away but if you have a fire you have NOTHING so lose some before you have none keep that in mind at all times and stay safe mate Gordon

Try thin slices of crayons or grate the crayons it melts and blends much easier and the results are amazing Ike
-
The scrap ply was a deep red colour so I sanded of the top coat I couldn't wait to try melting the sliced crayons so some of the red was still on the surface area but it was just a test so I wasn't too bothered
