i use what they call hollow core door skin. both sides are ok, but plain wood. It has like a thin foam center and wood vainer on both side, also has strands of fiberglass running lengthwise so can't sand to much or shows. I get it at homedepot for between $20.00 -$25.00 a 4'x8' sheet

A friend posted the first pic on Facebook. I liked it so I thought I would try something different. I poured epoxy resin first, then cut the pattern I made, then filled in with more epoxy

the first scroll saw i bought was from harbor freight, it broke in the first week. then i bought a wen, it made me want to keep scroll sawing. either one you need to get the adapter for pinless blades. I was going to buy a dewalt and the price went way up, saw that i could get a remanufactured excalibur or King 21" from amazon for about the same price. I'm so glade i did, 3yrs and the only thing i changed was the blade holders. bought the cheaper ones first then got the pegas, it knocked the vibration to less then half, i dont know about any other saws

Welcome to here I started with a harbor freight scroll saw (lasted a week before breaking), then got a Wen with pinless adapters. I got hooked in just a few months, now i have a 22" Excalibur. Have been able to find good ppl here great patterns and learn how to make my own in just a few years. Have fun and I'm sure only going to see you here at night when to dark to use your new toy

a friend handed me an antique brass ring told me to see what i could do with it. after a week of bouncing ideas back and forth, he usually said, "that's nice but", do what you do and think outside the box. so, i stopped asking him and this is what he'll get. either he'll like it or it's another fancy piece of fire wood. this is more spring than sport

Just finished today, got the pattern from a pic in a group I go to, "Scroll saw works and free patterns" from a picture posted by John Chestnut. This is made out of 1/2" reclaimed Oak (maybe red Oak). It's 12" x 7 1/2", with a poly seal on it. I used Inkscape and what i learned here to copy pattern

I started with the two here, then saw other faces to try. I spray painted after I cut the face so it looked more like the insides of a pumpkin. also i cut bamboo skewer sticks as small dowels to be able to open back. then i used branches from a small dead tree, at the Y so can hang if want to with the top glued and brad nailed 20230925_165604.mp4
