  1. Thanks.. I noticed that too after I did the post. I agree… hope she is well and scrolling.
  2. Just checking to see how this saw is going for you after, what, 3 years now. I also have the Carbatec SS450 and it’s been pretty solid… use the Pegas Blades from Carbatec and have been enjoying it. Put the Hegner quick release blade holder on and it’s great. Over here in VIC. Cheers.
  3. Hi everyone… new joiner… live in southern Victoria near Warrnambool near the coast of the Great Southern Ocean. Been scrolling for a few months now and wish I had started years ago! Originally from the US and was used to working with all the northern woods… Douglas Fir, walnut, oak, maple, poplar and others… now here in Australia the majority of the woods are gums (eucalypts) and while lovely woods they are heavy and hard… so fun to work… I use a Taiwanese clone of a Hegner 18”. Made by TruPro Tec from Carbatec. Great little saw for the money.. solid cast iron, and runs like a top Look forward to participating on this forum. Cheers Randy
  4. Hey OCtools the price for the 18 machine is AU $1049 ( tax time was $768)…. So times .69… that makes about US$725 and the tax sale price was US$545…… originally from Atlanta now living in AUS for the last 25 years.. but still watch the exchange rates….
  5. Oh… and the Excalibur’s listed at $1399 and $1299.. BUT it was tax time here… so the tax sale prices were AU $1199 for the 21” and AU $974 for the 16”….. that equates to US $827 and $665 respectively. Have attached the TruPro Teck Hegner wannabe…. Which is is a really good little tool.
  6. G’day John…. When I was in Carbatec a few weeks ago getting some Pegas blade I looked at the big saws…. The had the 16” and 21” Excaliburs rebranded as Carbatec… the documentation that they provide references General International…. But there they were… in bight shiny Carbatec blue. Looked pretty good…
  7. The Carbatec 18” SS450 is a Hegner Clone made by TruPro TEK in Taiwan. I use Clone because it is so close that Hegner parts will actually fit! I have one, have added the Hegner Quick Release and it is a sweet little saw.
