Hi Tim I bought a pristine, used Pegas 21 this past year. I made a stand for it and both have been great. You will not be disappointed.

Here are a couple items this newbie made.

I finished making a stand out of some wood I had lying around (with the exception of the 4x4 legs) my downstairs shop. I added two drawers on the right side and put the top on hinges so I can have the saw setting flat or at an angle. Painted the wood to match the colors of the Pegas.

I am new to scroll sawing (purchased a used Pegas a few weeks ago) and cut my first pattern two days ago. I plan to use these holiday patterns soon. I will be donating to the Towns County Sheriff's Office "Shop With The Sheriff" program where the local sheriff's deputies take disadvantaged students to the local Walmart. The donated dollars will enable the office to give approximately $250 to each student to use in their own discretion to purchase Christmas gifts. The first items that the students usually put in their carts are gifts for their family. The amount each one has left is what they might spend on themselves. Their choice!

Ray: thank you for the response. Q: why the hinged front? To access shavings on the table beneath the saw? Danny : thank you as well for the clarification. looks like a rectangular design with four legs is in order although may make it a bit narrower in the front for leg access.

I bought my first scroll saw (a slightly used, pristine condition Pegas 21) last week and am going to build my own stand for it. I have looked at numerous YouTube videos and have several questions: (1) some stands have three legs and others have four. Is there an advantage of one over the other? Please note that, either way, I intend to put four casters on the stand. (2) shape of the stand is either rectangular or a parallelogram. Any reason for a particular shape? (3) if the parallelogram design, should the narrow, end be at the front or back? The ones I have seen always have the narrow end at the back but my thought is to have it at the front so the scroller’s legs will partially straddle the stand. I intend to add a shelf and possibly a drawer or two. Thanks ahead of time for the responses.

Sorry but my post above got interrupted. My decision was made for me as yesterday afternoon I found a two year old unit for less than half the price of a new one. I met with the gentleman this morning and am now the owner of a mint condition Pegas 21. I am a happy camper!

Scrappile: I did mean “scroll saw” so than you for seeing my error.

My daughter just adopted twins a month ago and this is my impetus for getting a scroll saw and making items for them. They make me proud!

I am a woodworking hobbyist and have some experience making cabinetry and furniture as well as some lathe work. I look forward to getting my first lathe (debating between the Pegas and Seyco) and found this site which has a wealth of information.

I have no experience using a scroll saw but am looking at either the Pegas or Seyco scroll saw with stand. I am an experienced hobbyist woodworker having previously made cabinetry and furniture and am also learning to use a lathe. I know the Pegas and Seyco are not inexpensive but I prefer to spend more money now then getting something less expensive and later regretting the purchase. Both saws are similarly priced although the Seyco does include the stand. I have read quite a bit and watched a number of videos regarding both units. There seem to be a lot of “pros” and not many “cons” for either saw. Pegas certainly has a much larger retail network both in store (Klingspor and Woodcraft) and on-line whereas Seyco appears to be available only through their own website. Customer service seems to be outstanding through either saw’s on-line retailers. My main concern with the Seyco is the service and parts availability should this small enterprise close shop. Anyone with experience with either or both saws with a recommendation or general advice care to help in my decision?
