  1. Yes it's cedar and thanks!
  2. Just put the 3rd. coat of finish on the mountains and 2nd. coat on the rose
  3. I have been collecting different woods for about 35 years. I was a logger for 17 years. All told I probably have 10-20 thousand dollars' worth of wood stuck back. My family has sawmill that I get my local hardwoods and when I travel, I look up and visit people with sawmills. I also visit different wood stores in my travels. Luckily for me, I also have a friend that has a local woodwork store that stocks exotic woods. Whenever I go to east Tennesse I always visit Jeffries Wood Works and buy a load as well. Never can have too much wood.
  4. Another photo of the island cove intarsia piece that I recently finished. It was presented to its owner this last Thursday 6/29/23. The original design came from Bruce Worthington and I changed it some to get the look I wanted. Since I've had numerous people ask what woods I used, I thought I would post it again with a list. 1. African padauk- Red top half of background 2. Cherry-Brown lower half of background and frame 3. Western red cedar-Different shades for beach, background behind trees, sailboat mast and around top of boat. 4. Walnut-Palm trees and shadow inside boat. 5. Maple-Refection of boat in water. 6. Beetle killed pine-Water 7. Poplar-Different shades for vegetation around base of trees. 8. Catalpa-Palm fronds. 9. Spalted hickory-Gathering storm clouds 10. Aspen-Sail and body of boat.
  5. Another one of my color filled shield eagles that I cut from cherry. I filled this one with purple resin. It’s looks bluer in the photo.
  6. Thank y'all!!!
  7. My newest Tree of Life. Cut from 1/2 inch cherry. It went to it's owner Friday.
  8. Another Bruce Worthington design that I made this for my grandson Noah. The second photo shows the size of one of the door frames.
  9. One of my newest Intarsia pieces. A Bruce Worthington design that I changed up some. 9 different woods, all natural colors.
  10. It’s coming together. I have the first coat of finish on most of it, but still have the horns left to do the shaping on.
  11. I've been a scroller for 38 years. I've had plenty of minor cuts, but you would have to be really dedicated to lose a finger on a scrollsaw, lol
  12. All the shaping and the first coat of finish is done.
  13. Working on a different seascape this evening. It’s another one of Bruce Worthington’s original designs that I changed to suit me.
  14. Almost done. I’m working on the frame now. It will match the cherry backer board on the bottom. Bruce Worthington drew the original design.
  15. I'm not sure yet how I will put the backer on this one. I'm looking at a couple of different ways.
  16. Thank y'all all the nice comments!
  17. The cutting, shaping and first coat of finish is done. Two more coats of finish over this coming week and then I’ll glue it up and put it on a backer.
  18. I've been using the table top
  19. Looks great! That came out a lot better than my first attempt.
  20. After cutting 3 different sets of clouds. I finally found the wood that made the gathering storm clouds look that I was trying for. The clouds are spalted hickory from a standing dead tree that I milled in 1999.
