I'm looking to get a new scroll saw (to replace a 1980's Craftsman). We've been replacing all our equipment with quieter systems, so I want to get something on the quieter side. I'm looking at the Seyco, Pegas, and Dewalt...and maybe Excalibur. Is there any data out there for dB level for these? Any owners want to use a phone noise level app and let me know what the approximate dB level is on your machine while cutting? Thanks!

So, I have had my King Ex saw about 8 months. There is a part on it that I look at all the time but cant figure out what it is for. There is a set screw just in front of the lever. The only thing it seems to do is adjust how low the lever will go in it's "released" position. I haven't seen anything about adjusting it in the owner's manual. What does it do?

Realized the other evening I was low/out of micro drill bits and getting low on some blades, so I went online to artcraftersonline.com and placed a small order. Next morning, I get an automated response confirming my order and just a few minutes after that, I get another email from Denny with tracking details. Had to be before 10 am and my order was ready for the mail. So yesterday, I get a very professionally packaged envelope with my goodies inside. Now, I spent the last 9 or so years of working life packing truck parts and I guarantee you I sent out far more expensive parts in far more inferior packaging. Thanks to @Denny Knappenfor a great job on speed and packing.

I've been using the Pegas blade chuck on my Excalibur, and I do a lot of scrolling so the first one lasted me about a year before I had to switch it out for a fresh one. I also switch out the set screws from time to time. In December I started on a new one and within a couple of months I began to have a problem where the lever won't stay down at all. I happened to have a spare on hand (grabbed it during a black Friday sale), so I switched to the new one and now, after about 3 months, I am having the same problem. The second I push the lever down, it pops back up. I've made sure the head of the saw is level, there's no lubrication anywhere, the set screws are new and aligned with each other in the top and bottom chucks, I've cleaned out the threading, I am out of ideas and really prefer not to have to change out this $100+ part every 3 months. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this or if it can be fixed besides replacing the whole chuck again? Thanks in advance! I've attached a video of the issue. PXL_20210624_125925586.mp4

A project finished for my mom. She loves hummingbirds and I finally found a Steve good pattern for hummingbirds. 112 holes later all on a WEN scrollsaw with the pinless allen head adapter. Distressed the backing wood to look like old and glued them together. I used 1/4” birch plywood for the pattern and 1/2” craft board from Lowe’s for the backing wood.

I used a Steve Good pattern for the Baseball cut for my son. The Punisher was pulled from google and traced off an iPad for my dads shooting room. I’m debating on finishes for these pieces, any input is appreciated. I’ve thought about using a torch and scorching the baseball pattern and then applying some high gloss poly. I have thought of using the India ink on the punisher symbol also. I used: WEN 3290 Pegas #5 MG 3/4” Pine wood

So, got a little shock when I opened up the latest SSW&C. Evidently, Pegas just released what they call an "Overhaul" to the Excalibur (and Clones) scroll saws. I wouldn't call it an overhaul, but it is a complete replacement for the top and bottom clamp mechanism. For those that are very experience with the EX, you know there is some room for improvement here. Seyco has a milder enhancement also. The new Pegas Clamp replacement is supposed to be 40% lighter for less vibration, easier to use, and etc. Here is a peek: Here is a better peek from a Vendor here: https://www.dictum.com/en/tools/woodworking-metalworking/saws/mitre-saws-saw-guides/704769/pegas-saw-blade-holder-complete-set So, to be clear, this would work for EX, clones (Axminster, Carbatec, Pegas, King, and Excelsior) and Seyco. Anyway, I'm excited. The product doesn't show up on the Pegas web site yet, but at least this one vendor has it, and the SSWC ad says it is coming in "January 2018"
