trailfndr Posted August 29, 2014 Report Posted August 29, 2014 What a great week its been. I have been able to almost catch up with my Intarsia projects. This one is a Kathy Wise pattern. Made with Wenge, and Aspen. And I still have another piece on the bench being cut as soon as I finish typing this. Wilson's Woodworking, bobman58, AlfrediaMum and 2 others 5 Quote

amazingkevin Posted August 30, 2014 Report Posted August 30, 2014 You have the patience of Methuselah,Do you still have fingernails after all that detailed sanding. How many pieces get away from you sanding them, lol.I've way to many irons in the fire to concentrate on a project like this ,but maybe it's just what i need to unwind and focus.Intarsia is so rewarding to do,good for the soul too.Super job Quote

Airiel Renner Posted January 17, 2015 Report Posted January 17, 2015 Amazing Craftmanship! Greetings from Virgina! My family and I have a Papillon and your redition is strikingly accurate of the breed. It made my Dad and I so happy to see such a great rediton and inspired us to attempt the project as well. My Dad and I are not familar with "Wenge" wood. Was there a particular reason for your choice of this type of wood to use opposed to others? Also is this the reatively natural color of the wood or did you use a stain? Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece of "Wood Art". Sincerely, Airiel Quote
Clayton717 Posted January 18, 2015 Report Posted January 18, 2015 I like the contrast between the woods. Good job Quote
Clayton717 Posted January 18, 2015 Report Posted January 18, 2015 Airiel, welcome to the village. Wenge is an exotic wood, it comes from Africa. It is a pretty dark wood. So I would say that is its natural color. Quote
trailfndr Posted January 18, 2015 Author Report Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) Airiel, Thank you for the kind words. The choice of Wenge was due to the color of the wood. No stains were used. Wenge is a very hard wood, that can range from dark brown with light streaks, to nearly black. I bought the Wenge from OcoochHardwoods.com. Please be aware, Wenge is very hard, so if you use it, cut slowly, and take your time sanding as it will take more work to shape than walnut. My thanks to everyone for the opportunity to display my work. and the positive comments, and tips that I have learned from this site. Edited January 18, 2015 by trailfndr amazingkevin 1 Quote

trailfndr Posted January 25, 2015 Author Report Posted January 25, 2015 Dick, Thank you for the kind words. I only wish I was selling from my page. It does not seem to be getting me any business at all. Lots of likes, but no orders. Currently working on an alternate plan. Quote
amazingkevin Posted January 25, 2015 Report Posted January 25, 2015 I too could use an alternative plan! Quote
