stu Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 I've been asked if I would set a table up in November there price is 10% of sales what do you think thanks stu jellis 1 Quote
browders Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 I don't know if 10% is good or not, but at least it's a portion of sales so that if you don't sell, you don't pay. Jim Quote
amazingkevin Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 Sounds like a winner STU,What's a dime on a dollar ,nothing!I'd go for it.Hopefully they are advertizing for you good. Quote
ike Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 10% sounds good to me, The price I usually pay is $20 to $40 per table My wife an me usually get 2 tables. We very seldom go over $300 ike Quote
LarryEA Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 SOunds good to me. I would check to see if there is a minimum fee. Quote

Phantom Scroller Posted September 7, 2014 Report Posted September 7, 2014 (edited) Wow my table cost me £5 that's the benefit of living in the UK us Scrollers are a dying breed but then you'll be lucky to see a show with more than 20 tables and one scroller. haa haa lol Edited September 7, 2014 by Phantom Scroller Quote
edward Posted September 7, 2014 Report Posted September 7, 2014 I would like to see a standard fee, I really don't like any % fees. I just did a show on Saturday, and to put it bluntly it sucked. table fee was $40, and only made $100, which seems to be the trend now, very seldon do I do any more, so after show I wound up with $60 profit. It seems to me in my opinion people aren't looking for scrollwork anymore, especially where I do my shows, not sure how othere states are, hopefully there better.. edward Quote
dansnow Posted September 7, 2014 Report Posted September 7, 2014 i too would prefer a set fee rather than a percentage. We've been very fortunate this year, we hooked into a monthly craft fair that charges us $45 for a 10x20 space and we've been averaging right around $300 each time. We too have found that people don't appreciate the time and skill it takes to do fretwork, don't know how many times we've had to tell folks that "No it is NOT cut with a laser or CNC machine!" That's why we don't offer all that much fretwork, but about 90% of what we make has at least part of it cut on the scroll saw. Quote
Scrappile Posted September 7, 2014 Report Posted September 7, 2014 I'm curious why you prefer a set fee over a percent fee. In both cases above more profit would have been realized with a 10% fee. Course, maybe 10% is unusual and the the % is normally much higher. Quote
stu Posted September 7, 2014 Author Report Posted September 7, 2014 (edited) First show I'll be doing. I've checked other craft fairs here in BCs lower mainland they do a judging process keep the item then let you know if your over charged for a space. I just can't waste my time with that kind of BS. stu Edited September 7, 2014 by stu Quote
wood-n-things Posted September 7, 2014 Report Posted September 7, 2014 I agree scrappile. Both cases they would have saved money with a percent. Quote
heppnerguy Posted September 7, 2014 Report Posted September 7, 2014 Everyone has a different adgenda. I personally do not wish to make a lot of things, just to try for enough sales to make it work for me. I have exceeded my monitary needs for supplies just through my Facebook page, but that is me. I am not interested in trying to make money and then having a lot of things packed away or just gathering dust. So for me, I find a pattern I like, make it as a gift for a friend or loved one and then post it on my page. Nothing sitting around for no reason and i have plenty of money for supplies and I stll can cut all the things I wish to cut with no preasure from anyone. I have even started some of my Christmas gifts for this year, so I am a happy scroller. Best of luck to those that do crraft fairs. My table spaces are always open for anyone interested in buying one. Dick heppnerguy Quote
