LarryEA Posted September 9, 2014 Report Posted September 9, 2014 If that were full size, you would be building the 'Top of the Line'. Good start Dan. Quote

dansnow Posted September 10, 2014 Author Report Posted September 10, 2014 (edited) An update on the sleigh project. The body has been glued together and the runners cut but not glued. Next comes my least favorite part of a project, sanding. Ugh! After about 20-30 minutes or so my fingers are killing me to the point I need to stop for at least and hour. I have a homemade sanding mop, but I think parts of the sleigh and runners are too fragile for it. My son will be starting on the accompanying 5 reindeer set to go with it shortly. Ken O Posted September 11, 2014 Report Posted September 11, 2014 I've taken an orbital sander after MUCH finer detail than that and rarely had an issue. Looks good. How big it it? Quote
gator Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 looking good have the same pattern and will be getting to mine next week i think love the cherry walnut look Quote
amazingkevin Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 I've always loved the flutter wheel, sanding mop, etc. I have an idea for making a quick load one.I keep forgeting to draw it out but the idea is there. I'll have to share my idea as then someone here will come up with the perfect mousetrap for it to work! One thing listening to your quest here is your worries about damage.I think thinner strips of the cloth sand paper ,like 1/8" would have less of a detrimental effect of delicate scroll work.
