Hi Folks,

Just thought that you might like to see some photos of the nearly finished machine.

The brass look dials need swapping for proper English translated ones - once I've created them; the two long pointers on the spiral dial side need to be rebuilt so that they incorporate pins that drop into the spiral slots - a little like on a record player - so that you know at exactly what part of the spiral they are pointing at (these are the date and eclipse prediction dials). It also needs to be tidied up, a lot!

But, it works just great, better than I could have hoped to be honest. And all cut on a humble scroll saw - obviously the best tool in the world!!

I'll share another set of pics when it's completely finished.

Happy scrolling folks.

:-)

Don't ever forget that a clock is just a series of individual parts put together to form, well, a clock! I've seen people here cut out shapes and patterns far more complicated than a humble gear wheel - it's really not add hard as you'd imagine.

This pattern would be a great starting point add all the gears are big, and the design is unique.

Give it a go! I dare you...

Hi everyone,
Well since my image hosting site Photobucket suddenly started wanting $499 per year to store the photos I use on this and other forums they have all stopped working on my previous posts - sorry.
Sooo, below is a link to my Pintrest page where you will find several photos of my now FINISHED machine! It's turned out far better than I ever could have hoped - and with the English translated dials the machine can actually be used, and it seems to be relatively accurate. I've been lucky enough to pick up a few commissions along the way so I think I'll now be tied up scrolling gear wheels for the foreseeable future!
Take care all.

Just so impressive and beautiful.  Ya, Photobucket got me also, and I am glad they did.  I discovered Imgur which is 10 times more efficient and user friendly than Photobucket ever thought of being.  I deleted my account with Photobucket, goodbye, farewell, will not see them again.  $499 to use their slow, archaic, cumbersome system!!  No Way, not even for $.9!!
