Step Stool for My Lady

Here is a step stool I built over the weekend out of blue pine. It measures 16 1/2" by 20" and is 10 1/2" tall.

Do you have plans to paint it? I'm on the fence whether you do or not.

I would not  paint that, I like the grain pattern.

My wife loved the color of the wood so I just finished it with a satin varnish.   The picture really does not do it justice. The grain pattern really jumps out at you.

 

Doug go to Menards and sort thru the cheapest pine they have. The off color makes the grade it poorly but it is usually the best boards in the pile. If they figure out there is a market for blue pine they would probably charge more than what they do for the select boards.

you did a great job on that.. this is the simple looking thing that I sometimes plan on making and it never seems to come out very well. I wouldn't let our cat get on the ones I make..and I don't even like our cat
