Scrappile Posted March 15, 2015 Report Posted March 15, 2015 My son is retiring from the Navy this year. I'm planning on making a plack(s) for his retirement. He is a F-18 Superhornet pilot. The plan is to take one of his helments with the oxygen mask, cut the back of the helment off and mount the front portion with the oxygen mask on a board. I saw this on a forum once and it really looked nice. Under it I want to scroll a F-18 Superhornet and his rank, name and call sign. Like: Cmdr. Brian "Spool" Douglass. My problem so far has been I have not been able to find a pattern for a F-18 Super Hornet. Today I read a post by DonR. I saw his site address in his post so I clicked on it. Went through is patterns on aviation and he had most current jets but no F-18. So I e-mail him and asked if he had one and I just didn't find it. Received a response within a few minutes, he said he didn't have one that was good enough and he just hadn't fix it up. Said he would work on it and let me know when ready. Less than an hour and he had it in his catalog. I went and ordered it and the one for the new Raptor. I wanted it because my son has be in charge of getting the LeMoore base ready to receive the new Navy version. It has been a huge project. Still working it. Anyway I thought I scroll it and send it to him to hang in his office.I email DonR back and told him I had placed my order and to thank him for the quick response and the real nice pattern. I also sent along a neat picture I have of my son in a F-18 escorting the new F-22 to a base in Florida. Shortly I had another email from DonR and attached is a cool pattern of the picture I sent him of the two planes together. It is awesome and will be going to my son soon.Very very nice of Don "Old Crow" to do this. I really appreciate it and my son will tooTHANK YOU DON! http://oldcrowscrollwerks.weebly.com/patterns.html amazingkevin, ChelCass, DonR and 2 others 5 Quote

Fishman Posted March 15, 2015 Report Posted March 15, 2015 Sounds like a very heartfelt project, that will be loved! I didn't know DonR had that site, I might see if he can make a pattern or two for me as well. I'm still pretty new at doing it, and I just don't have the time to make patterns and scroll. Quote
