Does anybody know of any 3D castle patterns? Kind of like those awesome clocks people make in multiple pieces and then put together, but instead of a clock....a castle. I want to start a bigger project and I think making a castle would be cool. I looked around and didn't really find anything, maybe somebody knows of one? Thanks!

My problem is I think I get overwhelmed with the so many endless options of things to make, so I spend more time thinking about what to make than actually making stuff. I need to just be like you and make it all!

Kind of late to responding, but maybe it will help somebody so I'm going to share my two cents. I got these a while back: http://www.harborfreight.com/high-speed-steel-micro-drill-bit-set-30-pc-61526.html They really seem to work well, and I haven't had any break on me yet. An easy fix to make it fit in your chuck if it doesn't close small enough is to take a little painters tape or something like that and wrap a little around the top of the bit. That will give it the extra thickness you need. It's kind of a...."budget" way, but it works pretty well and drills straight once you have it setup right.

Seriously Kevin, how do you do it? You have to be one of the most productive scrollers on the site, you make so much stuff. Teach me your ways! I need some of your scrolling energy.

This looks good, I might have to get one at some point! Looks great for doing rough cuts on bigger pieces to get it down to pattern size. I've mostly been using the jigsaw for that because it's around and handy....but that's not ideal. The full size circular saw and table saw just seem like a pain to have to use for most scroll saw projects. At least with my current setup.

Aquarium Air Pump for sawdust blower duty

You can use a large box fan blowing away from you, might be nice in the summer! I too just got the Ryobi, and for the price it's a good saw. The blower is not one of it's best features at all. You can use any brand pump you want really, Tetra pumps are good decent pumps for the money. I would get a pump rated for a 60 gallon aquarium though. You could go lower, but if you're going to buy one would personally go with the slightly more powerful one from the start. It will just give you more options and overall more blowing power. Make sure you buy some aquarium tubing as well and you will be good to go! Another benefit to the pump over the bellow is the pump will provide you with a nice constant flow of air. Even if you're scrolling at a slow speed! -

This has happened to me, only when using BB. I tried FrogTape since i had it on hand from a painting job, and it seemed to work better (especially the delicate one). Those aren't cheaper though, about the same if not a tiny bit more. Honestly I've stopped taping over everything, and then attaching the pattern on tape. Yeah it's a little bit easier to pull off in the end, but it takes extra time and money to put it all on in the beginning. Now I just give the pattern a good spray of adhesive and slap it right on the wood. Maybe roll over it with or dowel or your hand to make sure it's really on there and you're good! It doesn't peel, even on delicate areas. Take a towel, rag, or whatever you want with some mineral spirits when you're all done cutting and the pattern peels right off. You do have to let the mineral spirits dry, but it's not that big of a deal. Maybe like 30 minutes. Maybe give it a try, at least when you cut BB.

Sorry to hear. This might seem like an obvious suggestion, but maybe you could get a cheaper saw so you at least something to scroll on in the mean time? I finally had to give up on my saw, and couldn't afford the $500 DeWalt so I got the $100 Ryobi. Sure it's not as good, but it really does get the job done and I haven't had any problems with it. Least you could keep on scrolling in the mean time!

Thanks everybody! If you would like the pattern, just let me know! Yeah, I've never seen it before! I have to say it really worked well, it gives you a nice even coverage. This is the one I used: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Specialty-10-25-oz-Red-Glitter-Spray-268045/205585909 If anybody is interested in trying it, just so you know it's really like a clear coat with red glitter in it. If you use enough of it, I suppose you could make it solid red glitter...but it's best if you use a base coat before. So I used some red Krylon paint, let it dry for about 10 minutes then I put a few light coats of the glitter on.

Hey guys! I've been getting back into things after a short break, dealing with some life stuff. I'm still in the hobby though, probably even more inspired now! You guys can't get rid of me that easily. This is a Sheila Landry Design, very slightly modified.
