Ok, breakfast is over but since you are still here, this is what happened.

About a month ago there was a squirrel in my birdfeeder. I guess they can't read the sign that says, "NO SQUIRRELS". I usually scare them with the BB gun (don't worry, my eyesight is poor and the squirrels get away harmlessly). On that morning I decided to run like a madman and scare the little squirrel droppings out of it. I came racing around the garage, across the patio, and, just as my foot hit the grass, I saw the dew. My body was doing 50 mph but my feet just kept slipping on the grass. I hit the ground hard and after catching my breath, I saw 4 squirrels in the tree laughing, yes, laughing at me.

My bruised ribs are almost healed and my sciatic nerve is much better now. I now feed piles of corn to the squirrels away from the birdfeeders.

I have a blow gun with air soft pellets that I use from time to time.  no damage done and I usually do not hit them just wing one of those bright yellow pellets off the feeder close to em hehe.  RIght now I am looking for a good hawk hunting cry... love to seem em scatter.

Hope you are healthy enough to go get em!

The people that actually like squirrels are a little squirrely!

I am very UN-FOND of that whole species! I have had to repair wiring, replace, siding and a few other things-- including cleanup after the little devils!

So I hope your aim improves with the air-rifle!

I don't just scare them away, I eliminate them from my property.  The destroy my walnuts, and it wouldn't be so bad but they will clean a tree of walnut before they are even ready to be picked.  They just drop them on the ground.  Then there is them digging my lawn up to bury nuts.....  Picture them as a big rat with a bushy tail.  My neighbor brought some in and turned them loose, because they are cute.  I trap them as quickly as she brings them in and I transport them else where.  She has never figured out why her squirrels do not "stay around"...

Sorry got carried away.  Dan, sorry for your hurts, hope you recover real soon.  Bruised or cracked ribs hurt as in HURT!!

Thanks guys. I did put some ground cayenne pepper in with the bird seed last week and I only saw one squirrel in the feeder and he turned away quick. Maybe that is the solution. The birds don't seem to be effected by the peppers. I did trap some last year and relocate them to the river. No, I didn’t drown them, just released them. Although, the thought did cross my mind. ;)

Thanks for the story Dan it was funny but painful for you! Quite some years ago I ran in the rain

from the car across grass to get to the chip shop, What I didn't realise was that there was a line

of stones in the grass...didn't see them! I went flat on my face and cracked a rib! My friends just

laughed! It was later that the pain came! Bob ;)

Squirrels do make a good supper if you get a young one. I don't hunt any more so it;s been a while since I have had any. I don't have any but my neighbor has plenty she feeds them. I guess that's good they leave me alone. My son had some in his house a couple of years ago he trapped 4 of them never found out how they go in I guess we have pesky squirrels din our neighbor hood right neighbor?.
