Popular Post heppnerguy Posted September 4, 2015 Popular Post Report Posted September 4, 2015 (edited) Last May when I went I my DC trip with my son and grandson, enjoyed our visit to Arlington Cemetery the most of the very many places we were lucky enough to visit. After I got back home I ordered two patterns from JGR. One being the White House which I already posted and now this one of the tomb of the unknown soldier at Arlington. I liked this particular pattern a lot when I first saw it but did not think I would be able to make it at the time I saw it. I felt the same way about the White House piece too. Since then I have made both of them and by the way I entered the White House in our county fair and got the 'best over all judges ribbon on it. heppnerguy Posted September 5, 2015 Author Report Posted September 5, 2015 Top notch again. Did you see the changing of the guard? That is something to see. I did indeed see the changing of the guards. That was my primary reasons to go there but I found there was so much more than I expected to find. The respect and reverence displayed and demanded of the visitors in attendance. The sign that reads something like "please talk quietly, you are on America's hallowed grounds". Not exact quote but you get the idea. Dick heppnerguy oneleggimp 1 Quote

LarryEA Posted January 20, 2016 Report Posted January 20, 2016 (edited) Beautiful piece! So much to see. A week of touring would not cover all the sites in D.C. Edited January 20, 2016 by LarryEA Quote
Chiloquinruss Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 What a great piece. It brings back a great memory that my wife and I received there. I had seen the ceremony several times before but had never seen the 'Rose' ceremony. My wife and I were there for such a ceremony. When a soldier makes his last tour of 'changing of the guard' he comes back all alone and places a white rose on each tomb. Very moving. Russ 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), lays a rose at the foot at one of the crypts,at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. The placing of a rose at the foot of each crypt signifies a sentinels' last and final honor before they leave The Tomb of the Unknowns. Quote
woodduck Posted January 22, 2016 Report Posted January 22, 2016 Beautiful work Dick & a fitting tribute to all your brave soldier's. Quote
