Falcon Posted September 15, 2015 Report Posted September 15, 2015 Signed up for their coupon emails 2 weeks ago. Got an email for 4" belt sander with disk sander normally $129 with email coupon ordered one for $58.88 and $6.99 shipping. This made the sander in my budget which is very low. But I figured garage sale sometimes good deal I like brand new good deal. Will let you know how it works out. Malcolm161, tomsteve, LarryEA and 1 other 4 Quote

Bought mine for 89.00 it didnt last long i just used it to save time doing key chains over 500 of them, just rounding the edges fast. The adjustment for the belt tracking broke off.But i wedged a piece of wood in the same spot and can still use it .I then 10 years later bought a brand new skill brand same type sander for $25 that someone picked up and dropped breaking it so they reduced the price. It pulled the threads out on three bolt holes ,so i put in sae or metric ,which ever is bigger and it works great Falcon 1 Quote

rjR Posted September 16, 2015 Report Posted September 16, 2015 You will find that if you put that sander in the vertical position and make a decent sized table you will like it. Make sure you make a solid dupport for the angles you use often-- even just different lengths of "feet" will doit! You can use some old automotive hoses as belt cleaners or buy some form Rockler/Woodcraft. I buy my belts from H-F for my 6 by 48 Jet and like their belts well! The best value I have ever had on sanding belts & I used to but them at Lowe's --no better-- just cost more! The belts wear to a finer # and frequent cleaning-- then sand a little waste wood to clear the cleaner from the belt works well. I use the belt sander for metal and wood and just clean-- between the uses. SAME BELT! Enjoy the new toy. LarryEA 1 Quote

Falcon Posted September 21, 2015 Author Report Posted September 21, 2015 I'll remember this. My belt sander died and I want another. Got it in Saturday and absolutely love it. If you get one be sure to clamp it down or drill a couple of holes to mount it not real steady unless you do. Have some skin removed to prove it. lol tomsteve 1 Quote

Xray Posted January 24, 2016 Report Posted January 24, 2016 I had one that I bought on sale for $50 something, wanted it as a spare in case my porter cable broke down. Never took it out of the box and ended up selling it on craigslist for what I paid for it, but I read alot of reviews before purchase and they were mostly very good. One thing I recall reading the reviews was that some folks were complaining that it didn't take much pressure before it started to bog down. Other guys detailed a very simple mod that eliminated this problem and made it much more useful, you guys might want to look into that I know I would if I had one. tomsteve 1 Quote
tomsteve Posted January 24, 2016 Report Posted January 24, 2016 (edited) im thinkin youll like it. the only somewhat common con i read is underpowered, but used properly that shouldnt matter. my 4" craftsman is getting old and when its time im going to get hf's 6" their sanding belts seem to work pretty good for me.very good price, too. for anyone interested, heres a list of one persons opinions of their gems http://woodworkerszone.com/wiki/index.php?title=Harbor_Freight_Gems Edited January 24, 2016 by tomsteve Quote
