Hi guys (and gals) I managed to get 5 mins spare so I came in to see you guys (I'm getting withdrawal symptoms cause I cant get in here often enough.) Dad had his appointment with his Cardiologist earlier this month. He was quite blunt with dad and told him the results of the heart scan show damage from 2 previous heart attacks and the valves are starting to harden, also one valve is leaking as it's hardened too much to seal properly. He then said that after 2 heart attacks and a stroke the chances of surviving open heart surgery were zero. he said the other option was to fit a stent in place which also has new valve inside, but due to the previous problems and the fact he is 89 puts his survival rate at a little above 50/50. Dad asked what if he didn't have op and was told that he would have little over a year without an op. So he has chosen to go ahead with the operation and is now being sent for all sorts of checkups and tests in readiness for the op.

Just to cheer up that "RobRoy" I have attatched a cartoon for him.

see you all soon

Keith.

Hey Keith Christmas before last I had a triple bypass would have been four however they were able to clear the fourth. I still have my up and downs, good days and bad, but anyway you cut it I am still around to spoil the grandkids, kiss the wife, and give my children a hard time so that is a good thing. As was stated in one of the other post these heart surgeons these days have these operations down to a skilled science. I know that doesn't ease you or your fathers fears. Be assured there will be boat loads of prayers being sent up for your father and your entire family. I also found that the support I was shown by the family here on the village was totally amazing and a true blessing that helped me get back on my feet again. Again prayers coming your way.

G'day my friend.  Bet your dad felt as if he had been punched in the stomach with news like that.  Tell him we are all thinking of him and sending prayers and good thoughts his way.  Please keep us up to date on his progress Keith, and stay fit and healthy yourself.
