wombatie Posted January 18, 2016 Report Posted January 18, 2016 There is a massive bush fire in the town next to us. It is out of control and one house as already been lost. Bush fires are bad enough but when people deliberately light them it is absolutely unforgivable. We are not at risk so we have put the word out that if anyone need a place to stay we are here for them. Marg Rob Roy, ChelCass, bobscroll and 6 others 9 Quote

Chiloquinruss Posted January 19, 2016 Report Posted January 19, 2016 We are in rural Oregon and the last two fires that were not lighting caused were set by - get this - summer firefighters. Seems they only work and get PAID when there is a fire, soooooooo! I hope you are out of harms way, fires local to your home are a frightening experience. Russ Quote
wombatie Posted January 19, 2016 Author Report Posted January 19, 2016 The fires that started before Christmas Day were started by lightening strikes and they are STILL out of control. Thankfully yesterdays is now under control. Two homes were lost and many homes damaged but no lives lost. It went from a grass fire to an inferno in 12 minutes that is how dry the land is at the present time. That area has had 4 grass fires lit in 2 weeks, I am assuming by the same person, hopefully they will get he/she/them very soon before someone dies. Thank you all for your kind thoughts. Marg Quote
spirithorse Posted January 19, 2016 Report Posted January 19, 2016 Really nice of you to offer your help, Marg, but, be careful that some-one doesn't take advantage of you. God Bless! Spirithorse wombatie 1 Quote
