Jim McDonald Posted May 23, 2016 Report Posted May 23, 2016 On ALL the streets surrounding Ball State University, the city just dropped the speed limit so the boneheads who can't be bothered to look up from their phones are a bit safer from the mean automobiles. Quote
WayneMahler Posted May 23, 2016 Report Posted May 23, 2016 Around here the fine is very steep. The cops do watch for cell phone use while driving. We visited our son in Corpus Christi and they sit up on bridges watching, another car pulls you over and gives you the ticket. My phone is setup so once I hit 15 mph, it goes to drive mode, cant receive calls, email or texts. It does give a tone when something shows up but you can do anything with it. Scrolling Steve 1 Quote
Lucky2 Posted May 24, 2016 Report Posted May 24, 2016 The comic looks funny, but, it's making light of a very serious situation. Locally, a fellow was charged for causing damage to another persons vehicle. While crossing the street he ran into the front side and hood of a car, he was texting an no paying any attention to where he was going. He didn't get charged at the scene, they went to his house and charged him. The driver knew who he was, and they wanted the damage to their car fixed without having it go against their insurance. Granted there was not a lot of damage, but, you could see it by just looking at the car. Plus, the owner claimed that it would cost him money, when he went to trade in his car. The jay-walker paid to have the car fixed and painted in the long run, his lawyer told him how much it was going to cost to be represented, and that he'd probably still loose. Len Quote
