Travis Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 I just put in my order for a Jet VS mini-lathe last night. It should be in by Friday! 'Course now I can't afford any of the extra tools I have some turning chisels, though. So I guess I'll be turning bead sticks this weekend until I can afford to get a pen starter kit. I'll also be sharpening by hand for awhile until I can get a sharpening setup. Boy, making square things round is a pretty expensive proposition. Quote
Barry5180 Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Congrats on ordering the new lathe Travis. If you're looking for a less expensive way of sharpening your lathe chisels, check out this website: http://www.freewebs.com/johnrob281/index.htm He has a video on the site to show the jig in use, and the plans are cheap enough. If you use something like this then you will probably have more money for some pen kits quicker... Barry Quote
Clayton717 Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 congrats Travis. can't wait to see something turned. Quote
Dan Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Whoo hoo! Another one gets hooked on turning. I saw a demo on that lathe and you can carry on a conversation while turning, it's so quiet. Great buy. Just don't give up scrolling or this site. Quote
