Old Joe Posted August 27, 2016 Report Posted August 27, 2016 I just finished this today. The shelves fold up with the hinged supports swinging out. This is a variation of a design by April Wilkerson, though I made mine larger to accommodate a compound sliding miter saw. I mounted the saw and can fully rotate to 50° on each side. The shelves when extended are perfectly even with the saw's table. The overall width with both shelves up is about 88" and when collapsed about 39." The 30.5 x 30.5 bottom drawer will be used for scroll saw scraps. Eventually I will add a fence with stop blocks and a dedicated tape measure. Lucky2 and ronniedev 2 Quote
Rob Posted August 27, 2016 Report Posted August 27, 2016 Great job Joe. I will have to look for those plans, it looks really useful. I'm envious of your DeWalt table saw too. I hope to buy one at some point. Rob Quote

I hope to buy one at some point. Rob Rob, that Dewalt 7480 is a slightly newer version of their portable job site saw. It has a rack and pinion fence that is surprisingly very accurate and unlike most saws in its class, it can handle cuts up to 24 1/2 " wide.I have a job site stand for it, but my next shop improvement will involve a rolling station for the saw. Also, I needed a new sliding miter saw and looked at Dewalt and Bosch. The money was an issue, but not the deal breaker. They are both massive for my space.I read a lot of reviews and was surprised at how many gave the Craftsman favorable marks. It requires dramatically less space in the rear of the saw and put out a ton less sawdust spray. The blade was crap, and I immediately replaced it with a quality blade and the results are impressive for such an inexpensive tool. I have retired from general handyman work and construction and if I was still working commercially I would probably buy the more expensive saw, but for what I'm doing today this thing is great. Quote
