rdatelle Posted August 27, 2016 Report Posted August 27, 2016 Hi everyone. Well I finally finished this piece. I went with the BLO first that a few of the scroller's suggested and a few coats of poly. This is made out of 1/2 Oak with a 1/8 BB backer. I used a #3 ultra reverse on this piece. It's a Sue Mey pattern and it measures 17 x 11. I'm not sure if I'm going to give this to my teacher friend that I work with for xmas or for when she gets her doctors degree which will be in Dec to. 125 CSL, meflick, Phantom Scroller and 4 others 7 Quote

rdatelle Posted August 27, 2016 Author Report Posted August 27, 2016 Kevin, I was thinking about stack cutting them but 1/2 in Oak would of been an inch and I thought it might be to thick to cut. I didn't want to take any chances with this one. Quote
DWSUDEKUM Posted August 27, 2016 Report Posted August 27, 2016 Very nicely done Ralph. Thanks for sharing this with us. DW Quote
Denny Knappen Posted August 27, 2016 Report Posted August 27, 2016 Well done, Ralph. That is a large cross. Quote
meflick Posted August 27, 2016 Report Posted August 27, 2016 Beautiful work all around. Really like the finish on it. Makes it pop. She will love it no matter if it is to commemorate her degree or for Christmas. I was browsing around on Steve Good's site and he has several different "graduation" themed patterns there. Perhaps you might find one that you could adapt for her graduation gift if you are still searching for ideas. Quote
tonylumps Posted August 27, 2016 Report Posted August 27, 2016 When you give it to her IT WILL MAKE HER DAY Quote
Lucky2 Posted August 27, 2016 Report Posted August 27, 2016 Ralph, it's a beautiful cross, the BLO really made the grain pop. If the two occasions are close enough together, then I think the cross could be a gift to cover both. Len Quote
Scrolling Steve Posted August 27, 2016 Report Posted August 27, 2016 Excellent work Ralph !....That will be well received ! Quote
Ron Johnson Posted August 27, 2016 Report Posted August 27, 2016 Now that really popped since you added the finish and backer. Very beautiful and well done Ralph. Quote
rdatelle Posted August 28, 2016 Author Report Posted August 28, 2016 Thanks everyone for the tips and compliments. I have one more cross to do. This one is a firefighter one with all the fire items since I was a firefighter. I figured I might as well make something for me. Quote
