The Scroll Saw Addict Posted November 12, 2016 Report Posted November 12, 2016 Hello again! I have received another request for a gift for a newborn and would like to ask you to help me with adjusting the pattern. Specifically, I wonder if the below sentence can be added on top of the elephant's back so that it would "snake" along its back starting at the trunk? Matthew Aaron Gilhooly 8lb 13oz 6.11.16 Thank you in advance! Birchbark and Phantom Scroller 2 Quote

I print out the sentence i want an put cuts 7/8 thru the paper between letters so it can take the form of the elephants back.use light tack glue so you can re position it easily.I do this way alot on my projects. Birchbark Posted November 12, 2016 Report Posted November 12, 2016 (edited) That's a lot of info in a small area! This is the best i could do. If i made the letters any larger, they wouldn't all fit. I had to modify the trunk a little to get it all in. Hope this was what you were wanting. I'd appreciate a picture of the finished project if you do decide to use it. Russell Oh yeah, i added an eye. I really appreciate it, and have to agree with you that it is a properly long name and the second version by Fab4 will work better on this particular piece. Thank you for another pattern Russell, I'd actually like to pick your brains for a nice scenic pattern of my local mountains to work in between this project! As always I promise to post finished piece Fab4 are you able to make your design work for a scroll saw? Many thanks for your time again guys! Quote

The Scroll Saw Addict Posted November 14, 2016 Author Report Posted November 14, 2016 Marcin See if this works for you We can make changes if necessary Fab4 forssa1A.jpg I'm sorry it took me a while to come back to you Fab but I had a proper look at it and decided it doesn't work with as many letters in it. I've decided to change the wording to Dream Big Little Matthew 8lb 13oz 06•11•16 I am sorry for being fussy, I'll think this through better next time I post Please have a look and see what you can do Fab. Thank you Quote

Alicia White Posted December 8, 2016 Report Posted December 8, 2016 As other people have pointed out, "Dream Big Little One" is a bit a long for a scroll work piece. Would just "Dream Big" be a good way to shorten that? The Scroll Saw Addict 1 Quote
The Scroll Saw Addict Posted December 9, 2016 Author Report Posted December 9, 2016 I fully agree, tbh if she decides it's a go, I'd like for it to say Dream Big Little Matthew and followed by the date of birth only I'll probably start cutting soon just in case she comes back to me a few days before Christmas;Dinner Thanks for you feedback! The Scroll Saw Addict Posted February 5, 2017 Author Report Posted February 5, 2017 (edited) Well! It's been a while since I started working on this project. Partially due to the fact the customer has left it to me to decide the whole design (which is my Achilles foot for now 😂) and partially because of other project that came in the meantime... But mostly it was due to me not having a clue about what I wanted to do with it! 😂😥 I thought of putting it on a nice stand with the elephant in the background and the letters in the front. But this would take too much space, especially since I still have to cut and add the date of birth 🤔😥 So that left me with having to hang it, but still couldn't figure out how I wanted it and experimented with the layout a lot... Or this? Or this?? I liked the last one a lot, so I decided to give it a go with a plywood backer but at the last minute a very good friend of mine suddenly gave me an idea I was looking for for so long! Forget about plywood backer and use the glass from a nice picture frame I had... Genius! 🖒ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ So now all I'm missing is the date which I'll be cutting and glying on tomorrow. I also intend to include a bunch of cut to fit colour paper so that it will go along well with whatever theme colour will be in Matthew's room Edited February 5, 2017 by The Scroll Saw Addict Fab4 and ChelCass 2 Quote
