Word art help, not sure what to do

My wife wants this in wood she loves it.  " When I left Hawaii I Kauai'd"

 

Sort of a play on words with the island of Kauai in it.  Do I want to do it in 2 or 3 lines or should I do a word in a word thing.  With I Kaui'd inside the first part.

Would ask you great designers to give me a hand on it and if you got an idea please share it.  Want to get going on it but again not sure what to do.

That was just a quick 5 min. concept drawing, you knew that right Jim?  That was never intended to be a pattern at all.  I just threw that together to explain my idea.  When your wife sees that, she won't be impressed!  lol.

Thanks for the quick 5 minutes work.  Only question I have is do you have a font that is more scrollable for the words " When I left" not complaining but would love something a with a bit more flair.

What I am thinking of doing is to do an outline of the island of Kauai and put this in the center of it.  Did this style for some family on Maui with there address in the middle of the island.  Thanks again

My first thought was just words stacked upon one another and cut in any font.

Something like

WHEN I LEFT
    HAWAII

   I KAUAID

 

with the words actually resting upon each other. It could be made with or without a base if the wood is thick enough.

I really like Russell's idea better though.
