More Miniature Birdhouses

[Denny Knappen]

The display tree was empty, so I made six Miniature Birdhouses this weekend.  The patterns are by Diana Thompson and purchased from her website.  I used Red Oak and Eastern Red Cedar.  The blades were FD Polar #5 and #9.  The finish was 50% BLO.  On one of the patterns, the top was too small to insert the screw eye, so I cut that portion off.  Comments welcome.

Very nice Denny, if you thought that oak was hard, better stay away from Purple Heart.

I did some that I glue scrap of PH with walnut, they look very good but never again.

You are right Pete.  I would not attempt Purpleheart at 1 1/4" thick.

Denny, I really like your bird houses. You do a great job on them. I do a lot with red oak and I know how hard it is cutting 3/4" let alone the thickness you make these. The blade wants to lean on me. dave

Oh yes i ran into that same problem with the 196 i made and gave away.I'd do it again to .Love to scroll mini bird houses ,can't stop,lol Yours look great!

Excellent work as always Denny.  Boy, that display tree sure has been emptied several times in the past couple of months!  Hope you and yours are doing okay today what with the storms passing through the area.  Welcomed rain for sure but could do without the tornadoes, thunder, lightening to go with it for sure!
