Paul hd Posted December 3, 2016 Report Posted December 3, 2016 (edited) Hi all,Got some turning done today. This was the first time I used ca glue as a finish.I'm a big fan of the high shine finish. This is Burr Elm. It was meant to be a pen but I made a mistake and had to install the letter opener. That is why the wood is not flush with letter opener hardware. Here I used black locust and acrylic tortoise shell effect shims. This is Brown Mallee. A beautiful figured wood. Thanks Kevin, If you get a chance to get hold of a lathe you will not regret it. Very rewarding. Paul your right it's a beautiful wood burl and I use CA /super glue as well you can get high on it does smell a bit . but a lovely finish on pens. Roly Hi Roly, It is rather pungent and not good. I think I'm going to be using ca fairly often so I will look into the odourless stuff. Cheers Paul Here is another short video Quote
Lucky2 Posted December 4, 2016 Report Posted December 4, 2016 Paul, even if you do switch to odor-free CA glue, you should still wear a respirator. Just because it's odor-less, doesn't mean that it no longer harmful. Len Quote

rjR Posted December 6, 2016 Report Posted December 6, 2016 I am very fond of the tiny vase. Outstanding work there. The other things are nice; but that vase really appeals to me! Paul hd 1 Quote
