The lines are good but I would be worried about the bridging gaps. It's quite difficult to see them clearly in such a small image. One thing I would normally do on a pattern is increase it's size before working on it. If you increase the size after working on it then the lines will fatten up as well. It's alright to have just the one gap on smaller pieces but the larger ones are going to need more or you risk breaking them. It's a good pattern none the less Dick and you are definitely getting better with every one you do. The best way to know if you're going stale is to try something you've never done. If it comes out good then you haven't gone stale. I think the biggest problem with pattern designing is figuring out what to do. If no-one asks for something then it's up to the designer to come up with something. Keep up the good work.

Thank you both for your continued encouragement and help. Timothy, every thing I do is new to me. I agree it is difficult for me to figure out a pattern to try. I think I might take a look at the pattern requests here and take on some of those challenges. That might become a good way to compare what others are doing and help to point out my lack of knowledge when trying the same pattern. I realize my efforts will not be up to that of our talented pattern makers here but a good lesson challenge for me

Keep pumping them out. Whether they are perfect or not they all seem to be useable. I really like this one but agree that on a larger scale it would be a good cut.

Dick,

You are un-stoppable with these patterns.

Like the other said, keep going.

Dick, are you cutting these patterns as you finish designing them? This would be the best test for a pattern (IMHO that is).

Great work

Sam :)

Sam,

I agree with your statement but right now I am out of the wood I would use for these pattern attempts. However, next week I am planning on going to the wood store for to restock it. I would be cutting these on Baltic Birch Ply but the weather  has been so icy and snowy that I did not want to travel the 90 miles there. The temps have risen and so I plan the trip soon

Ok  I am at it again.. Here is another pattern attempt.  Not sure if I am getting better or staying stagnate,  but at least I am still in there trying.. Let me know your honest opinion, after all with that, how can I know for sure

Kevin,

Thank you for your input, however, I made some changes to try and rectify some of the problems here and posted it today. Check that post out a see if it is better. It is not easy to catch onto pattern making for me, but I am continuing to try and learn this art
